How to clean up your desk space, manage dem cables, and make it just plain awesome!

I have been planning to do this for a while, so I thought, why not make a guide style post....

 

So, this is my desk before I started cleaning everything, OH THE HORRORRRR!! :

 

First off, you have to clear off your desk. Take the things you don't use a lot and put them somewhere else (Like a drawer or storage box). If you have some garbage like wrappers or just random stuff lying around, throw them out or give them away to someone that would use them, or you can of course sell them.

 

Now we will clean the top of the desk to make it shiny and clean. Use 99.99% Rubbing alchohol (Which most of you should have) and paper towels/regular towels and wipe off the top of your desk.

 

 

Now we have to take all of the things that you have like routers, switches, hubs .etc and mount them to the bottom of your desk. There are many ways to do this, the ghetto way like I did or by using screws, binder clips .etc be creative! I used duct tape (Why? Because I can!) and here is how it turned out:

Flip over the desk (Mounted the USB hub)  :

Flip the desk back over and place your peripherals so that you can measure the cables out:

Plug everything in:

Getting down and dirty:

GHETTO MODE ENGAGED:

And we are done!:

 

Now, remember that these are just guidelines and not specific instructions. Just be creative and make it work out the way you need it to.

Mine took me about 30minutes. Also, my wallpaper changes between a lot of cars.

This is kinda dumb, most of the stuff on your desk was just stuff you could move. Basically you told people, move the crap off your desk, and duct tape like 8 wires under it.
