Air cooler for CPU

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Could someone tell which air cooling (i would prefer not to go with liqued) up to 50 euros? Its ok if i need to go up with money (maximum 85euro), if its worth it. I have ryzen 2600. Main task for for cpu fan is to be silent while on heavy load, and of course to provide me some overclocking possibilities while still being silent.

I found noctua nh-d15 for 85 euro, are there better deals?

A Cryorig H7 is a really good cooler if you don't have much money. I use an H7 on my Ryzen 5 1600 and the temps rarely go above 65C in games, it's super quiet as well.

Unfortunately those are hard to find these days, otherwise a solid cooler if it can be bought.

Or the new dark rock slim when it's available

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k (won) - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Kill Trident Z RGB - Force MP500 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - The venerated Hyper 212 Evo (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G2 650W - Black and green theme, Razer branwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Linux Proliant ML150 G6:

Xeon X5560 - 24GB ECC DDR3 - Asus DirectCU GTX 760 - old Seagate 1.5TB HDD - Dark moded Ubuntu (and Win7, cuz why not)

I know the Pro 4 is a blowout, but do the 4 or slim outperform a 212 Black?

Yes, the slim is a 180 watt and the DR4 is 200w. Still quite a lead in cooling performance

Regarding Cryorig H7, there is no classic version of it, only those variants of it...

Cryorig H7 ultra 50 euro

Cryorig H7 plus 50 euro

Cryorig H7 quad lumi 55 euro

Cryorig H7 quad snow 65 euro

And,  dark rock 4 is 62 euro.

So, with which one should i go? ( Prefering more silent one).

you might want to quote people...

I'd take either of them

quad lumi is with rgb, snow is white, the other two I'm not sure

the drp4 is more silent tho, and technically enough for even a 9900k

Good suggestion regarding quotes.

I guess they wont even see question this way.

Hmm, is there actualy noticable difference between dark rock 4 and dark rock pro 4 regarding noise while full load?

if you have it in a good case yes, because the pro has another fan

When overclocked at load, the Mugen 5 pulls ahead of the Dark Rock 4.

https://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/scythe_mugen5/3.htm

Whatever you get, make sure that it fits your case.

But if i overclock it, wouldnt it then be very loud? I have ear problem, so noise is most important for me. I have to adming this mugen 5 realy caught my eye, just noise worries me

Scythe is known for making quiet coolers. It would be perfect if it fits your case. If it did get too loud, you could decrease your overclock a bit.

You can see the noise levels on these last two charts:

The Mugen 5 is pretty quiet.

What case and ram are you using? Where are you shopping / located?

Scythe Mugen5 orFuma and Thermalright Macho rev B are all quite nice for about 40-50€:s. Silentiumpc Fortis 3 is a bit cheaper at 35€. Prices from amazon.de, could be cheaper on other countries.
