Filling this pump/res combo from the top?

Hey, I am new to watercooling and am planning out my loop. I was wanting to have this pump/res combo with the loop going back into the res at the top and have the port labeled "in" at the bottom actually have a drain hooked to it. And of course I will also fill the loop with another one of the top openings on the res. How well will this work?

Not absolutely sure about this exact pump top, but what you want to do is possible and a rather common way of installing system drains. It works very well when the pump/res is at the low point of your system. The only issue is that you lose easy filling of the res by removing the cap.

It still shouldn't be too hard to fill the reservoir by unscrewing one of G1/4 caps and using squeeze bottle, right?

If you have the bottle, it's not hard. Any plain Jane funnel would work too, just a bit less convenient.

I was gonna get one of the cheap squeeze bottles from EK

Oh, yeah. That's what I was thinking

Edit: Although I wanted to make sure that having the loop feeding into the top wouldn't cause an overflow while filling the system when it got close to full
