Group regulated, so it doesn't make sense. You shouldn't use it with any system that actually requires 550W. So don't buy it.

What are your system specs?

 

The VS is Corsairs lowest end PSU, it's not all that great.

 

If your specs aren't that high it might be OK.

 The cpu atm is an i3 2100 which I will upgrade to an i5 2500k or i5 3570k and the rest of the part I have rn is radeon hd 6870, 12 gb ram, 1 ssd, 1 hdd, 1 cd drive.

Better to get a higher grade PSU then.

Completely agree with @imajerec that a Corsair CX or CXM model PSU would be better suited.  The VS550 isn't a bad PSU, it is just better suited for different applications than what you are putting together.  Depending on where you're located, CX and CXM PSU's are pretty close in price, and you should be able to find a good deal on one.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Mine died a couple of weeks ago after two years. I would recommend something different, just to be on the safe side

Corsair's website doesn't say VS has rifle bearing fan either.
