Wired Mechanical Keyboard suggestions needed

Jtalk4456

OK I learned the hard way that a bad mechanical keyboard is worse than a good membrane. But now I want to see what a good mech. keyboard is like. I have no brand preference, but i do have a few things I need. Budget is between 50-80, lower is greatly preferred if possible. I need some tactile feel, but for my wife's sake, I would like a quieter keyboard. It must have a ten key, no tiny keyboards here, full size only. I would like a backlight, doesn't need to be addressable rgb or anything, but something to type at night. I don't really need any other features, besides it being wired mechanical and have decent durability. I would like it to not be white, I know some people love the white aesthetic, but i prefer dark color schemes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

I've looked and see mechanical keyboards around that price range, but i'm not sure which are better than others. Also the one i have cost 25 so that budget is an improvement

I would recommend this one from Logitech, it is not very flashy, but it uses the Romer G switches which are to my knowledge the most reliable widely available keyboard switches.

mem-canical switches...........

you know those are widely regarded as just being loud membrane switches? like membrane keyboards are better than them.

these types of keyboards try to cheap out while ending up being expencive.......

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kpfp99/dsi-keyboard-kbmodmacunon

you can get cheap Cherry REDs for less. not optimal, but a lot better than memchanicals.

Is there a more expensive version with backlight?

That.... Does not look like it's mechanical. It looks like a rubber dome over membrane one.

Check if you can find a Red Dragon keyboard with Outemu switches in another colour than Blue. And consider finding o rings that you can put on to make it less loud, if necessary

Edit: The whole thing is metal too, like if I had to club a baby seal, this is the keyboard I would use.

it's as cheap as the one I bought almost, but i need it to be a quieter one, could i drop some o-rings on this? The listing says custom switches.

its inexpensive, yes, but I wouldn't call it 'cheap' per-say. If your apprehensive about it, go with a known brand. Just trying provide options.

Looks fine, but keep in mind that linear switches do not give you tactile feedback for when you actuate a switch. (Didn't see that you wanted a tactile switch, just one that wasn't too loud)

Switches that have a tactile bump but not a click are usually the Brown ones.

i'll look for some brown ones specifically. Would it be better to get brown or find a red and use o rings?

In terms of noise, Red and Brown switches should be fairly similar. The o-ring will make the switch feel a bit mushier when bottoming out, but it will help with the noise. This goes for both the Red and Brown switches.
