Raja: AMD cannot compete

At this years Intel Investors meeting, former AMD head of graphic division Raja Koduri, has something say about its former workplace. He stated AMD has "no software ecosystem that's meaningful, without Intel". Raja was one of people who help designed AMD Infinity Fabric interconnect, during this time at AMD, he said

“Infinity Fabric allows us to join different engines together on a die much easier than before,” he once said. “As well it enables some really low latency and high-bandwidth interconnects. This is important to tie together our different IPs together efficiently and quickly. If forms the basis of all of our future ASIC designs.”

Now working at Intel he said

“[AMD] has two architectures,” he says, “no memory or interconnect strategy that I know of, and the size of the developer ecosystem is tiny. In fact, without our invaluable software contributions they have no software ecosystem that’s meaningful.”

Since Raja was the man behind those AMD RX, VEGA, Instincts, and Navi, with him contradicting on himself, Intel Xe GPUs don't seem to have a bright future.

The Downfall of the News Section: clickbait titles because no one will care otherwise.

On what Raja is saying, it's true... to an extent. It's a lot more like a roundabout than a one-way street: AMD needs Intel to exist and Intel needs AMD to exist. Quite literally, too; those x86 and x86-64 licenses don't come for free.

Yea, he knows he's not being fully truthful when it comes to what he said but the behind the scenes rumours were that he wanted to leave for Intel for awhile and was given RTG to stay.

Intel has some pretty impressive CPUs coming but AMD has been ahead on developing awesome OPENSOURCE software. Remember Mantle? Well that's Vulkan now and is super impressive/promising. Freesync? Yeah even Nvidia is using it now. I'm sorry but what Raja? Intel scaaaared

Yeah what I meant was I think Intel didn't hire him for his current merit, but for his past achievements as something to boost investor confidence.

 

In other words, I think he's all washed up, and both AMD and Intel know that, but Intel needs a mouth piece and figurehead more than AMD right now.

He's a svp so he isnt doing grunt work if that what you mean. He was definitely a mouthpiece for AMD as well but it's just what happens when you come a senior executive

To be fair there isn’t much of a Software and developer ecosystem around AMD GPU’s (compared to NVIDIA). But what’s that got to do with Intel?
