It's more like using a single piece of scotch tape to try and fix a hole in your roof caused by a tornado (aka it doesn't do fuckall).

That offset only applies to the software so you can keep track if there's any new bad sectors arise and other purposes, it doesn't actually change the S.M.A.R.T value or make the HDD any better

i tried secure erase the hdd and now it has 100% health

Still doesnt change that your harddrive is most likely on the way out if its throwing SMART Failure warnings

 

I taped the fuel gauge on my car at Full, Do i have a full tank of fuel again?

well because i heard some smart data may be false positive.

 

previously it was 99% health after secure erase now its 100% health
