it is odd though that the M.2 slots still say 32Gbps, when it it was 4.0 at 4x it would be 64Gbps.

it could also be them forgetting to change the speed value, its not that rare for them to miss things like that

That's not what the spec sheet says.

 

It says that the Board has THREE PCIe x16 Slots but failed to specify if its 3.0 or 4.0.
That is only specifically mentioned for the m.2 slots.

 

That doesn't mean the PCie Slots have or do not have support for PCIe 4.0.

Wouldn't worry. 5000MHz mem on Zen is a pipe dream. Could do it on extreme cooling though.

 

Biostar X570 board has up to 4000MHz support. Mid 3000s would probably end up being the sweetspot.

There's nothing easy about improving an IMC, and DDR has been something of a bottleneck for every CPU since DDR2 and the integration of the memory controller on the die. (Also, as we move towards DDR5, prices on high speed memory are coming down pretty rapidly.)

Some of the analysis of the BIOS information is pointing to the option for something like a "max memory bandwidth" setting. So 5000 Mhz memory isn't a pipedream, but specifically a mode for Workstation systems that need all of the bandwidth but latency doesn't matter much. Memory ICs that can do 5000 should be online in supply by the end of the year, though they'll not be cheap. (DDR5 will start in the 6000 range and that's just around the corner.) 

 

For most users, the lowest Net Latency without getting Bandwidth Constrained will be the optimal spot. Which is probably going to be 3600 kits for Zen2. We'll know more in a couple of months.

Yea but it would be nice to actually benefit from lower prices instead of having to buy higher freq again ^^

The 9980xe is not a coffeelake refresh like the 9900k is, it's a very slightly improved skylake. The 2950x isn't too far away from the skylake-x 16 core equivalent, so we should expect the 3950x to be close to the 18 core 9980xe.

Coffee Lake is a slightly improved Skylake with a few more cores.
