Buying a monitor

The IPS has a greater chance of looking better than the TN, regardless of age. 

I have an IPS monitor from circa 2008 that has better factory color accuracy and better contrast than my 1 year old IPS monitor (though it does pale in comparison to my 1440p IPS monitor, which is superior to the 2008 IPS in every way).

My laptop was cheap, and has a TN panel; its not even worth trying to compare it with even the meh quality 1 year old IPS panel. There are some TN panels that look decent, but even the good ones kneel before a high end IPS panel. TN usually looks washed out, they have lower color accuracy and poor contrast; but, if you care, they do tend to have lower latency.

Does it matter that one is 4 years younger than the other. How different are a 2012 ips and a 2016 tn monitor ?

 

IPS or TN for standard usage doesn't matter.  Just make sure you can connect to them from your PC is your primary concern.  The LG has VGA if your machine is older, for example.

 

I'd probably get the BenQ, due to it having Height Adjust and Tilt.  Looks like the LG only has Tilt.

I have but I don't subscribe to just buying one and not tweaking settings to my needs.  I've used all sorts for work, and watching YT and doing Finance... no difference.  

 

Side by Side doesn't matter.  ANyone can see differences when comparing, it's when standing alone... does it look good and work for you?  Either one does.  

 

IPS or TN running my Excel models and pro forma models... yeah no.

My current monitor has 75hz and 5ms (not full hd)

The 1st monitor has 60hz but 2ms

Will the jump down to 60hz be noticeable in games like cs go or every day use

I have side by side one 75hz and one 60hz, i can tell you the difference is there!!!!
