New Windows Terminal - tabbed, emoji-capable Windows command-line experience.

Sadly, I'm inclined to believe you, even though I know you're only joking.

Emoji support is the result of supporting all character and symbols for all the languages. Linux and MacOS support them. Microsoft was lagging behind.  You actually need to go out of your way to remove support for emoji's.

In addition, emoji are actually used in the industry. Usually used to show symbols from test results or some results on scripts running, and things like that.

You can now download the new Windows terminal from the play Microsoft store, if you are running Windows 10 version 18362.0 or later, which I believe is Windows 1903.

Here is a download link: Microsoft store

And here is the announcement:

It is a JSON file, you'll need to have a default editor set to it. You can use Notepad.

Between this and Microsoft shipping a full Linux kernel within Windows, I believe they're either admitting defeat in some way or trying to make Windows more attractive to developers.

Probably the latter.

Maybe both. Imagine having to embed another operating system into your operating system to make it usable.

Also imagine all this fanfare for a terminal emulator that does nothing Linux terminals haven't done for 20 years.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

I actually think it's sexier than most of the Linux and MacOS terminals

However, I remember emoji support to be present here as well from ages
