Free video transcode software

Because it needs to run on a separate server.

the most you can do is see if the Handbrake devs finally implement the cineform codec, and by then use another third party tool for watch folder automation ._.

otherwise, it's mostly paid options ._. see what else can you get for the price of a year's worth of an extra seat of Premiere CC (maybe support Kyno? since they're supporting LTT in the featureset sense). or alternatively you have AME running in the ingest server as well.

I am looking for a free video transcode application that has the capability of handling 4k 60FPS footage and transcoding to Cineform. I needs to be able to have a watch folder and output folder.

it can be for any OS.

what editors are you using? not sure which ones tick all those boxes simultaneously since a lot of people depend on Handbrake than anything else ._.

as mentioned, Gopro studio does the job but doesn't have watch folder functionality (also it's not being worked on anymore, Gopro has transitioned to a consumer-sided program called Quik).

kinda unsure if there's a quick transcode workflow where there's a files-go-in-files-come-out kind of deal. you'd need to test if it handles 4K footage as well

okay, on another note, I just had a search spiral:

was curious on what ingest program LMG's using on their Mac Mini. so far from what they've publicly shown it seems to be a combination of Kyno and ShotPut Pro

https://lesspain.software/kyno/

https://www.imagineproducts.com/product/shotput-pro

timestamp [5:21]

both are paid options, so yeah. no freeware/open-source options yet

why not use adobe media encoder?

Because it needs to run on a separate server.

You got it. We use Shotput Pro and Kyno for ingest. Once Kyno implements ingest presets then we'll hopefully be able to just use Kyno.

We use Adobe Media Encoder for transcoding exports from Cineform to h.264.
