Cisco NSS324 NAS - Update PHP Version?

4 hours ago, IXI Andrew IXI said:

Hi Jarsky,

Sorry about the late reply, I didn't get an email notification stating I had a reply.
Please see below for the information you requested.

State the file doesn't exist.

Not sure if the copy and past of the info is legible. Let me know and I will do a print to PDF if needs be.

Thats fine, plenty easy to read.

So it's a fairly vanilla install of Apache 2.2 with DAV and PHP 5.2 with OpenSSL and a few modules.

You could configure php7.3 from source https://www.php.net/downloads.php such as described in  their documentation but you need to make sure you know all of the configuration in case you need to roll the changes back otherwise you're going to have a bad time...I dont know how well php7.x is compatible with apache 2.2 and its modules...

It's probably a better idea to stick with doing a VM like you mention in your original post. You can then install from repo with the latest webserver & PHP with many of the guides available online.

Personally id just do an Ubuntu or CentOS VM and install Lighttpd + PHP-FPM using APT/YUM

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could assist with upgrading the PHP version of my NAS which is on version 5.2 currently to the latest version. I have tried a few related articles for Linux servers but my NAS doesn't support the apt-get function which I would imagine is the same with other NAS machines.

So if someone could point me to the PHP updated files I could download for Linux.

Currently, I am setting up a virtual Linux machine and installing a SQL and apache server to see if I can copy those files across to my NAS but if someone out there is able to help with a less painful method or suggestions, that would be highly appreciated.

Edit:

Using a Linux VM didn't help me. So I found out the PHP is not loading the dynamic library and I get the following error from the error_log located under usr/etc/apache/logs.

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/apache/modules/php_pdo_sqlsrv_7_nts.so' - /usr/local/apache/modules/php_pdo_sqlsrv_7_nts.s
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/apache/md/usr/local/apache/modules/php_/usr/local/apache/modules/php_odules/php_sqlsrv_7_n
[Mon May 06 12:01:53 2019] [notice] Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) DAV/2 PHP/5.2.11 configured -- resuming normal operations

Can you try running this command to see if it will show what distro its based on

/etc/os-release

I'm assuming this device is running Apache.

Can you also create a file e.g phpinfo.php with the below code in it in your www root e.g /var/www/html

and open the page e.g http://mynas/phpinfo.php and paste us the PHP version and anything else that appears relevant - need to know if its compiled with FastCGI or FPM or anything funky like that.

<?php phpinfo();?>

Be careful - if php doesn't get updated through the conventional GUI update it may be intentional. New versions often disable features that are either outdated or have a security issue. A new version could break functionality.

Well, considering I don't need to try getting this feature to really work anymore, I may play it safe and let it stay the way it is. Hopefully, when I buy a new NAS it will support a later version which I can upload and add the MS SQL drivers too.

Thank you for your help.
