vs power supply really that dangerous

The321

Alot of people told me to change my psu (its a vs550w orange letters) since it is a danger and could explode or smth. Should i really be too concerned using my vs 550w ?

Not a danger or could explode, but it is definitely really low quality. You have an old version of a low-end and low quality power supply, so I'd probably upgrade it.

When your power supply dies (which is likely in not too much time) it could damage other components. Upgrading to something like a Corsair CX550M (new) would be a good idea, or a Vengeance 550M, if you want your system to last long and not kill few if any components when it does die

Go for what's cheapest at the time really, those are all solid. Though some are better than others, so if there's a $10 difference between a Corsair CX and an EVGA G3, go for the G3

If you actually need 550W, you have something like a 2080 Ti system. In which case you should get none of those, and instead go for a high end PSU. Since I doubt that's the case, what are you powering?

Modern hardware consumes 550W with incredibly high end hardware, yes, but older hardware can easily take up those 550W

You would need to get some quite high end parts to justify a 550W. Here's numbers for the 780 Ti during a gaming load. That's wall power, so the DC side is about 10% lower. Even 780 Tis in SLI will pull less than 550W DC.

Imo, instead of trying to get a 550W, try to get a higher end 450W PSU. Where are you buying from?

i personally dont want 450w it might be enough but since i love second hand parts hustling it might not be able to power everything i come across. And thats my main focus a good solid psu that can power pretty much everything and i feel like 450w will come short here.

You do realize the U9 is based off of the CWT CSB platform which is a step down from the Corsair CX-M?  Just saying.

I mean.. are there actual reviews stating otherwise?

Not to mention the Seasonic Focus Gold which currently seems to have a dislike of high-end GPUs is on there

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

Well I think I forgot it's only here, CXM here is very overpriced here and there is no CX 2017 here, so yeah my bad.

You're right.  There is no "CX 2017".  There's no such thing.

So what IS the cost difference between a U9 and a CX-M?  Obviously they're 50 watts off, so you can't make a direct comparison, but I'm curious....
