Both major consoles can accept any 3.5mm headset.

Plus, the best controller for PC is a console one (Xbox One, or for those who prefer, PS4 DS). KB + Mouse is not optimal for all game types. Sometimes you want a joystick. Sometimes you want a Wheel. Sometimes you want a controller.

Does playing on Sega Master System and GameBoy as a kid before getting my first computer counts as switching from consoles? :)

Anyway, I never really owned a console. Aside from a few interesting exclusives, there's nothing on a console that I would consider to be worth the investment, let alone being forced to play with controller and having to pay a subscription to play online.

EDIT: And I'm saying this as a guy who adores the Xbox1 controller and uses it in a bunch of game genres. What I hate is the fact that consoles like PS4 FORCE you to use the controller and only the controller, even for games that don't make any sense with a controller, such as 1st person shooters and the like.

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

In my humble opinion, the Xbox One controllers are better anyway. More ergonomic and better laid out. Others will prefer PS4 controllers though.

I love PC Gaming. I've been doing it for many many years now. But I also love console gaming, and every other kind of gaming. Being in the "PC Master Race" is not for me, because as much as people claim it's "just a joke"... it's not. Not anymore.

I tried em, didn't like em for my personal ergonomics, and tbh belonging to the PC Master Race for so long using anything analog is hard for me to do anymore LOL

I am one of those people. And I wanted to buy an XB controller since most people recommend it for PC, if not for anything else than native PC support. PS4 can be a hassle, per se. Usually isn't. But then again I have multiple PS3 & 4 controllers so better to use them and save money, yay?

PS3 and PS4 ones don't always work well.  There are official dongles and apps to get them to work better, but Xbox 360 and XBO controllers work a lot better, tbh.  I use to use a cheapo rock candy controller, but I traded that in to Gamestop after I bought an XBO S again for console exclusives and to use as 4k Bluray player.  I now use the controller for that or my Hori fight stick depending on the game.  But, the Hori fight stick is the basic VX, so I'm replacing it later since fighting games are starting to use more controls.

PS3 has more issues, but I hadn't had PS4 issues with bluetooth with DS4Tool in I can't remember how long. Since last Summer? Anwho, yeah, I know XB controllers will definitely work better, but no reason to spend money if my biggest issue is reinstalling in 5-10 min every year or so.

I mean Sony has an official dongle too for DS4s, but ya you do have toy with apps like that to get them to work.  It's why I primarily use XBO and 360 controllers.  lol

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0136JP894 I just can't wait to get this.

Funny but I wanted to buy the dongle last year, not a single official Sony store or partner sells it here. Apparently it has been discontinued under the radar. Apparently not even Gamestop has it anymore. So I said fuck it, using it via Bluetooth.

That looks sick. Expensive but sick.

I'm probably being gifted that.  I did buy the Dongle, but you still sometimes have to set things up through an app.  It just acts a BT dongle and nothing more.  It was discontinued globally and that's why it's being sold only by scalpers now.  I gave mine away to my friend after Sony started their censorship campaign.  Even when prices get spiked I still try to undersell scalpers at a reasonable price, or I just give it away because I don't care.

It's a BT dongle, but can connect up to 8 devices. I can connect 1 on my BT. I do only need 2 for some games but that's still more than it supports. So cable it is. It sucks.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

I wanted to build a PC for VR, then sortof gave up on VR as I didn't want to spend loads on a headset and so just started playing regular games on PC again. I like the freedom you get on PC, you can pick resolutions (I use 1080p ultrawide), you can change game settings to get better framerates and you can mod stuff.

Specs:

  • i5-8600K
  • Evga Black RTX 2070
  • 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
  • ASRock Extreme 4 Z370
  • Fractal Design Meshify C Light TG

Location: UK

Plays: Minesweeper at 1000 fps.

Might as well explain why I’ve stuck to PC gaming since I’m here.

I like PC gaming. As quirky as it is, I like to dick around with that stuff, especially on the emulation side of things. I don’t feel like I’d get enough mileage out of a console because of the games I play vs. the games I don’t play.

That being said, if you like consoles, I understand. A dedicated gaming box that just works (whether or not that’s still the truth is up to developers to determine) is very appealing to the masses, especially if it can do more than simply gaming.

I switched because my parents bought an Apple IIgs and the games were way more advanced than our Atari 2600.  Then we got a 286, then 386, and so-on.  Never looked back.

I lack the ability to use controllers. All of them are poorly designed trash. We have 10 fingers and yet console controllers force us to only use two, maybe four. My thumbs just don't have the coordination required to do that nonsense. Keyboards and mice let me use all my fingers which makes gaming enjoyable instead of impossible. At this point I'm in too deep to go back, but if a decade ago console manufacturers hadn't been so stubborn and let us use KB+M, I might have actually stuck with console.

Funny enough, a keyboard is actually almost irritating to use for some of the games I play. I don’t really like having every bind to one side of my keyboard while I use my palm and a single finger to use my mouse. I very rarely use all ten fingers to play a game and if I do, it’s because I have spambinds.

I switched to PC back in 2008 because I wanted to play Crysis and Oblivion at better than 480p on an HP laptop my parents bought me for school.

I was in high school at the time, so I could only afford to build a modest PC with an Athlon 6000 and an HD 4850. Not a very good combo even at the time I think, but it was enough to run Crysis at medium settings, so I was happy. Oblivion ran flawlessly at max settings with mods, so I was even happier.

I thought I was in really good shape with my 19 inch 1440x900 monitor too. A nice step up from the laptop.

Been a PC enthusiast since. Though I do own a PS4 because there's a lot of PS4 exclusive games I like.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.
