VERY Slow USB 3.0 Transfer Speeds

JR00K

Hey LTT folks.  I've tried to find an answer via google, but I can't seem to find my scenario.  I have several hard drives in my build: two HDDs, a standard SSD and an m.2 SSD.  When I transfer files between them, I have no problems.  However, when I try to transfer files to a USB 3.0 drive, it maxes out at 10 MB/s, if I'm lucky.  It doesn't matter which drive I'm copying from.  I'm getting the same results whether I use one of the USB slots on the IO or the front panel.  Same speeds on multiple USB drives.

Any thoughts on what I can try?

Do other things work fine at USB 3.0 speeds? Or do you have another PC to test the external drive with?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

If I may, I have a few questions:

What files are you transferring

What USB stick are you using

What case do you have?

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

The only other stuff I have plugged in is mouse and keyboard. Nothing to really give me an idea of speed.  The USB drives work fine in other machines.

Files range from documents to music and movies.  All of them go at the same speed.  There are a few different drives, but my primary is a Sandisk Cruzer 64GB.  I've formatted it as FAT & NTFS with the same speeds.  Case is Lian Li PCO11, but the speeds are the same when plugged into the mobo.

When you built the PC, did you install all your motherboard drivers from the website or driver disk? If you used Windows default drivers that could very well be the issue.
