Am I cutting it close on this 750W PSU?

I recently got a Seasonic 750W Prime Platinum PSU but am unsure if I got enough juice for my setup, and potential future upgrade. My main worry is if I decided to upgrade my video card to something robust like a 2080 Ti. If I did that, would it be enough or would the ceiling be too high?

 

The calculators I've used online say I'd be hitting the 650W+ area under load, but am not sure how accurate those really are.

 

9940X 14-core (not overclocked, hovers in 4.1ghz area on its own)

Noctua NH-D15S

ASUS X299 Deluxe II

64GB Trident Z Royal (4x16GB running at 3200mhz XMP)

GTX 1070 (pushing three 4K monitors) - upgrade to 2080 or 2080 Ti potentially (or Navi / 3000 whatever)

4 SSD's (1 NVMe M.2) + 1 HDD + 1 Optical

NZXT Hue+ lighting (4 strips)

3 140" case fans

its not even close? idk how xeons are but i think it would be around 250-450W

I don't think you are even going to use 650W under load with 2080 Ti + 9940X.

Did you already purchase all the other components?

If you stick to a single GPU with that PC you'll never saturate 750W, so you're fine even if you grab a RTX TITAN.

You're more than fine.  The 1070 isn't a big deal, and your CPU pulls max of 200w under load really.

 

So you would be fine for even a 2080Ti.

Ok it's sounding like it'll be fine from what everyone was saying. However, I remember seeing some youtube videos of CPU's like the 7980XE (and 9980XE) drawing 400-500W when running even moderate overclocks under multi-core loads. Kind of scared me.

Yeah.... The machine is already up and running. The video card is the last thing I was upgrading in the near future.

You're fine. I used a 750w PSU to run an 1800x & SLI'd 1070s for a while with zero issues. 750w for a single GPU is perfectly fine!

Yeah.... The machine is already up and running. The video card is the last thing I was upgrading in the near future.

I extrapolated your usage from this... it has the 9900XE drawing 191w under load.  Where do you see them pulling 400-500W?  Maybe that was the whole system?

Perhaps it was full system draw. Here's a video Jay messing with a 7980XE in the 600W arena.

Okay, his base power usage is about 290w for that 7980XE TOTAL SYSTEM with a 1080Ti during initial testing at STOCK.

 

Overclocked... totally different.  4.47Ghz got him 560w from the wall, that's insane.

 

That's a whole lot more power draw than you would do.   Even at his OC, your PSU would be fine.
