$500 or lower Laptop Advice Requested

Hey, so I'm trying to help a friend find a good enough gaming laptop - it doesn't need to run the latest games, as long as it's 64-bit it'll be an upgrade to his old laptop. About the only requirement is that it has to run FFXIV at minimal settings.

Friend doesn't have a large budget, hence the 500 or under stipulation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

FFXIV'S minimum system requirements can be found here: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/product/

Please keep in mind the game is getting an expansion in a couple months and the minimum requirements are subject to change, especially since the devs have indicated they are going to abandon 32-bit versions of the game, which indicates a probable increase in RAM for both the DirectX 9 and 11 versions.

Seems like laptops are horribly expensive right now

Best bet might be something used with at least a 960, or an R5 2500U potentially, just look for some benchmarks.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Dell made an ungodly number of Inspiron 7567 laptops a couple of years back with an i5-7300HQ and either a GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti. Those are all over the used market right now.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Going to want an R5 2500U at minimum for the long run

There's supposed to be Ryzen 3000 laptops out already but I can't find anything about them.

I was able to find this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Acer-Nitro-5-Gaming-Laptop-Intel-i5-2-30GHz-8GB-Ram-256GB-SSD-Windows-10-Home/263941141929?epid=17025213752&hash=item3d741e35a9:g:LAIAAOSwx~ZcsL5F
Yes it's refurbished, but the next cheapest thing that could of worked was $700+
- i5-8300H 2.30 GHz Processor
- 8 GB of Ram
- 15.6" Display with 1920 x 1080 Resolution
- Dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
- Windows 10 Home

Honestly for the price, it's really good.
