Connecting my two different displays together

Blackglade

Not sure if this is the right place to post since it’s a bit of a complex problem and I don’t know how to solve it.

I have two computers, one work and one personal. My work provided me an LG UltraFine Display to connect to my work computer ( a MacBook Pro) which is connected via a thunderbolt 3 port.

My personal computer is a custom built PC that is running a Mini ITX board (an ROG STRIX Z370-I) with a GTX 1080ti connected to a monitor.

i want to connect my LG UltraFine display to my personal computer when I’m not using it for work but I don’t know how... I was told a simple thunderbolt 3 to HDMI wouldn’t work because the connection data types are different.

how can I connect my pc to the LG UltraFine display as a second monitor?

I'm sure someone will come along and correct me but I thought thunderbolt displays use display port over thunderbolt? If this is the case a simple DP to USB-C cable should do the job... that is if my assumption is correct here.

The UltraFine monitors usually still have at least one regular HDMI or DisplayPort on the back as well... just use that.

Nope. It's just 4 USB C ports.
