Want to prove my dad wrong.

You and your dad are thick headed. I say he kicks you out in a year.

LOL , I would personally love to upgrade to a VA panel TV but dad says why throw something that still works. Currently I have 3 CRTs in my house and only 1 LCD panel (this laptop).

Tell him you're gonna save money... unless you guys are stealing electricity.

A regular CRT TV will consume 80-100w per hour ... a LCD monitor or LCD TV will consume around 20-30w ... so you'll save at least 50w each hour of usage.

That means you'll save 1kWh in around 20 hours of running....  you'll have to figure out by yourself how much would that be, because it seems like you guys have different prices for different thresholds of power consumption: https://www.bijlibachao.com/news/domestic-electricity-lt-tariff-slabs-and-rates-for-all-states-in-india-in.html

Here, it would be around 0.15-0.2$ (equivalent in my country's currency) for each 1kWh.

If you guys are watching TV 4 hours a day, that's 120 hours in a month or 6kWh ... you'll probably recuperate the cost of a cheap LCD TV (let's say a HD Ready 1366x768) in less than 2 years just by moving the money from your power bill to the LCD TV price.

I mean, you can kick it. Off a balcony. By accident. Then it won't work.

He would rather buy me dieing by touching the tube than what you mentioned xD
