You have all that for a 1080p 144hz display?

RTX 2080 is not overkill for 1080P 144Hz

It's close to it though. Hopefully they're doing workstation stuff because that 9900k is definitely shooting below it's league if they're gaming

Actually with that setup the 9900K is getting used more than anything, you get less CPU usage with 1440p and way less with 4K, the 9900K is really pointless at 4K. (for gaming)

Not the G3, that's for sure. The Corsair doesn't make an RX series PSU.

Formula Gold 550W, if you don't need it to be modular and don't plan on multi GPU. Whisper M 750W if you don't plan on multi GPU. HX 750 if you plan on multi GPU.

:)

Yes you will get 144fps and then some with small dips.  I would suggest to go to nvpanel and turn on all AA methods and max everything out,, Youll be flying high at 1080p with the 2080 monster.  Some people need esports performance and you will get that with a 2080 AA methods on at 1080p.

Corsair RMx 850 is good. SeaSonic Focus PLUS 850w Gold is also good at about the same price.

I've used both with similar builds to yours. I've also used the EVGA. I'm not a fan.

That's totally fair, I just can't comprehend buying a system like this strictly with the intent for gaming- assuming that's OP's goal

It's really not that overkill for AAA titles

He can upgrade to a 1440p 144Hz monitor later if he wants to, but otherwise I don't see an issue personally

I guess it's more of an economical/performance thing for me, I can't justify spending that much on a system for that hypothetical use case

If I had fuck you money I'd totally be sitting right with you

XD it's not like I can afford any of that, I would personally go with a 1440P monitor, 4K is a waste to me, and I don't remember seeing people going with 4K monitors with their builds this year, probably very few? I guess the hype died down, all the builds I see are 1440p or 1080p, but a year or more ago, there were a shit ton of people going for 4K.

Why not the whisper m 750w if they plan to multi GPU (just curious)?

Just noise. The fan spins at 450RPM up to 450W, then goes up to 1200RPM at 525W, and then 1800RPM above that. The HX is a lot quieter at the higher loads.

But if you're not doing multi GPU then why the 750w in the first place? Could just get the 550w and then no issue with noise.

The pricing has disappeared for the lower wattage models on PCPP. Shame, since especially the 450W for $60 was a no brainer for most builds

Sometimes PCPP just stops tracking things. If you know it's normally available in that country you can usually find it by searching on the store websites. Usually have same problem with some of the be quiet units on PCPP (America) as well.

Funnily enough the 450w is currently the most expensive on Newegg ($97).

a 2070 does it and I think a 2060 could even do it, may it be on tweaked graphical settings..

So, yes, Kinda overkill..

I really don't think so, look at all the AAA titles running on an RTX 2080 at 1080p at ultra settings, they barely hit 144 FPS, is Ultra settings stupid? maybe.. but even at high settings it's not that overkill
