He is comparing the connector to DP and DVI. They both have better through put and also are locking connectors.

Probably the same reason he hates micro/mini USB, its just more prone to failure. It is a really flimsy connection.

Are you joking or are you serious?

It does. I had a 640x480 VGA monitor for a while, but I got rid of it. Worked great too.

He doesn't like unnecessarily redundant connections example: VGA is useless compared to DVI, HDMI is the useless version of Display port, Micro USB is the retarded brother to mini USB.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

Its still an anologue connection, the picture quality you get can be influenced by the quality of the cable and interference.

I don't get why he hates VGA either, it works.

There's no point to VGA anymore. It's analog and it's a compressed signal. The best way to use it is to have a really short cord.

Most TV's have HDMI, or a DVI port. The majority of monitors have DVI, or HDMI. My old HP w1907 monitor from 2008 has DVI.

That's true. But, my god, that monitor had OUTSTANDING clarity. Just like my old HP Pavilion monitor. I was actually weighing the option of replacing it and getting my 1080p monitor, since the picture was so excellent. But it was starting to flicker in and out (signal issue), and I wanted something higher resolution than 1024x768.

there is nothing wrong with vga, it works, but it is a thing of the past, it did it's job during prime time, but at this point it is inferior to other options and has it's limitations.

Yup. Kinda sad since all of my computers still have a VGA connection (no adapter needed). Tells you how up to date I am. :P

HDMI works, just display ports better

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

True I have never actually heard him say he hates HDMI, just micro USB, not that it matters, we are all able to make our own decisions.

For me its just that DP and DVI generally have more robust connections and they support higher bandwidth. A clear win in my book.

'Cause Display Port. Display port is free to license (or atleast it's cheaper) than HDMI and whilst HDMI only last year began supporting 4k@60fps Display Port does it since 2009.

i'm a potato
