GTX 1070 or Vega 56

For 8GB of vram,

 

Would you choose team blue or team red?

 

It will be running with a ryzen 2600, 16gb 3200 RAM and b450 tomahawk board.

team blue or team red? what? Intel and AMD? what does that have to do with 8GB of VRAM? and you're already running Ryzen, this makes no sense

Interestingly I have very similar specs, but with 16GB of RAM instead. I'm buying a Vega 56 just because it's currently cheaper in the country. The Vega is also a bit faster but consumes much more power. So I think that your decision should be based on the current prices where you are and maybe your PSU.

Yer the rtx is around 100 pounds more expensive. Out of my budget unfortunately

Vega, then undervolting. You'll be able to fine-tune it to get ~200w power consumption at loads with less heat generated, WITHOUT affecting performance-speed.

 

YT or search for "Vega undervolt overclock" or such. If tweaked, V56 is a very capable card with good power profile.

Vega 56 could also match a 2060, 

 

or even 2070 if you give UNLIMITED POWAHHH

1070 can't do that. 

 

Also his Deus EX number is way off. 

Guru3D Deus EX:MD number from 2060 review.

One tip : when you compare cards take the general card not the card modded or ultra OC'd with liquid metal

 

that being said both picks are good i think ? I don't see OP being sad picking a 1070 or a vega

Never heard of this reviewer, at least I've heard and trust Hardware Unboxed. Guru3d 2017 review shows the Vega56 ahead of the GTX1070 (one thing about AMD GPU, performance gets better over time.....'Finewine' at work). I trust reviews from them more than that reviewer in your link. Only thing I'll concede is power consumption, the VEGA56 does take a fair bit more power....

 

Also, that reviewer is way bias, with a VEGA56 centric title like 'Does it still suck?' It already implies that to the reviewer, VEGA56 suck in the first place.....with that attitude, I'd not trust his 'reviews'.

There is, but not to that extent.

When i compare GPU, i also consider how much it will gain when properly tweaked w/o any hardware mod. A simple powertable mod and undervolting will yield more performance compare to stock, and you get more when you overclock it. 

 

I never said 1070 is bad, in my original post i said pick 1070 if the price is lower.

Nah.. that's not a bias man. Look at his selection of games, Gimpworks and Unreal engines everywhere. 
His number on "AMD" games was off too.

You've never heard of UFDtech? The "does vega56 still suck" title just seems like bad clickbait to me, I didn't know testing a set of popular games makes a reviewer a "shill" though LOL. The "finewine" thing is some clever marketing but its the drivers that just catch up later on. And to be fair HardwareUnboxed is a bit biased towards AMD, personally the only Youtube reviewer I trust anymore is GamersNexus. As for vega56 or 1070, I'd just get which ever one is cheaper.

Nope, not really a fan of YT reviews, I prefer to read an article by, say...guru3d, or other review articles and see if they agree in general, on the performance of a reviewed card. Much like how I'd only read InnerFidelity reviews of various headphones (when Tyll was active of course) before I'd decide to try one out. YT audio reviewers, like Z, are off my radar simply because I don't trust such reviews.

Both fine options. The 1660Ti is comparable and less pricey then both in the U.S.
