Computer turns on for half a second then turns off

EmpZurg14

Hey Guys!

I really need some help here. I am not a computer genius at all and just need some advice here. My computer has been working perfectly fine for a solid 5 months now. Replaced a whole bunch of parts during Christmas. I was using it perfectly fine this morning then took a nap and went back to my computer, noticed it was off, tried to start it up and this happens (see title). I tested the PSU to make sure it did not blow by using a paperclip and it worked perfectly fine.  Specs below.

My components are as follows:
Mobo: Asus Z390 E Gaming
PSU: Corsair CX600M
CPU: Intel Core i5 9600k (I do not overclock)
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz
GPU: Nvidia 1060 Founders Edition
Corsair H100i AIO

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Sounds like a PSU problem, but it can be rare but your motherboard might have gone bad.  I would still point to the PSU.

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface / KRK Rokits 10" / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse & G915 Linear & G935 & C920 / SL 88 Grand / Cakewalk / NF-A14 Int P12 Ex
AOC 40" 4k Curved / LG 55" OLED C9 120hz / LaCie Porsche Design 2TB & 500GB / Samsung 950 Pro 500GB / 850 Pro 500GB / Crucial m4 500GB / Asus M.2 Card

Thanks for the response on this! Now I tried testing the PSU with a paper clip and it turned on and functioned perfectly. Could that still be an issue overall then?

The PSU sends a 'Power Good' signal to the MoBo.  If this test failed you will see the exact symptoms that are described in the original post.  The paper clip test can show a 'good' PSU when in reality it's not.  I had this exact problem with a Seasonic G-360 eighteen months ago when it was sadly out of warrantee.

Workstation PC Specs: CPU - i7 8700K; MoBo - ASUS TUF Z390; RAM - 32GB Crucial; GPU - Gigabyte RTX 1660 Super; PSU - SeaSonic Focus GX 650; Storage - 500GB Samsung EVO, 3x2TB WD HDD;  Case - Fractal Designs R6; OS - Win10

Thanks! Do you have any suggestions on a PSU that would perform well with my setup? Probably gonna try and grab one today.

This is the best bang for your buck PSU.  Corsair 550w modular  Also it is very quiet and fan speed changes depending on load.  It will usually stay quiet.
