is freesync on 144hz monitor worth it?

irfankamil

As the title says, I want to buy 27inch 144hz 1440p monitor but I cant seem to find any other option that has freesync except 32 inch monitor from where I live (malaysia).

So does freesync on 144hz monitor really worth it?

I have 2 144Hz monitors that support FreeSync. I keep FreeSync turned off. No tearing.

It also depends, do you want to buy it online or IRL?

If you want to buy it online, I could definitely help you find a good monitor for a decent price.

Just reply & I could help you w/ finding a monitor, etc.

(if it is online, maybe in person if you're stores sell these)

Well the job of freesync of freesync 2 is to when your frame rate falls below the refresh rate of the monitor it kicks in and say you go from 130fps to 100fps dip freesync will make it so you see no difference dropping below the monitor refresh rate and provide a butter smooth experience.

I know how it works. Does it justify the need to choose a different screen size in the case of OP? No, not in my opinion. Refresh rate is high enough to keep providing a smooth experience when it dips below a certain refresh rate.

You notice the dips only if they are big enough, in which case it's more a problem of stuttering, and you would notice it with or without FreeSync.

I found this monitor called the ASUS MG278Q.
It checks everything you wanted. 144HZ (maybe overclock to like 165HZ), 1440P, 27 OR 28 inch BUT it is G-sync, I'll try my best to find a freesync monitor w/ the other 3 checks as well.

Here is the link :

EDIT: It is $600 USD
and the link is on amazon.CA

Alright, I found a cheaper monitor ($500 USD) with everything you wanted.

It is the Acer XG270HU & it checks all the boxes like I already said.

Border is red if that is alright with you.

It is definitely nice to have. However, the experience changes from game to game. It really helped me with Final Fantasy XV by making it so much smoother, but in From Soft games it causes screen tearing so I have to turn it off.
