I disabled my GPU in device manager and now I have a black screen and I wasn’t able to get into bios before I did that.

Hi I really need help, I disabled my GPU In device management and now I have a black screen and I can’t do anything, I need help ASAP.

 

I7-7700k @4.2Ghz

MSI 1070ti

g.skill  Trident Z 16GB 3000Mhz

ASUS Z270H

 

This are some of my specs let me know if you want all of them, any help I can get would be appreciated. This all started when I got daVinci resolve 16 black magic today. I tried to start it up and it wouldn’t start so I tried restarting my pc a few more times and it still wouldn’t lunch. I decided to uninstall and reinstall it again, but it didn’t work. At this point I looked up fixes on YouTube for Davinci resolve 16 and the one I followed was this one linked at the bottom of this post, it’s only a 2 minute video so I guess watch if you want it might help. So after following those steps it actually worked so I edited my Spanish project on and put it on YouTube and shut down my pc. I went back to my pc not to long after and thought to myself, I wonder if I reverted the one setting I changed in my bios back to what it was before if DaVinci resolve would still work, by the way when I changed IGPU Multi-monitor from disabled to enabled it also changed the primary display from auto to something else not sure what. Ok so I come back to my pc and I’m pressing f2 ,which gets me into bios all the time, and it didn’t work my screen was just black so I restarted my pc and just let it boot into windows and it did perfectly fine without a problem, but the one thing I noticed that it didn’t give me the screen where it says “press f2 or delete to run bios” or something similar to that. I restarted my pc yet again and pressed f2 and all I got was just a black screen, but when I restarted and I let it sit boom right into windows, so I tried to get into bios again another black screen. I was very confused I tried switching my Display port cable that was plugged into my GPU for a HDMI and I plugged it into my motherboard instead, but then I literally didn’t get any signal from that at all bios or windows, so I switched back to my DP cable and plugged it back into my GPU so now I go into Device management then I went to display driver, or something like that and first disabled my i7-7700k’s integrated graphics thinking it would do something, but it didn’t. So I enabled my integrated intel graphics again, and right after that I disabled my GPU and my screen went black and now I legitimately can not do anything on my computer bios or windows. So basically both my problems are trying toreenable my GPU so I can see my screen again and also trying to get my bios fixed so I can go back into it. I built this pc a year ago and this is the first problem I ever had with it, also I built my brothers pc so should I put my GPU in there and try and wipe and reinstall the drivers. Thanks for your help and reading if anyone needs help clarifying what I said just ask I’ll be happy to explain as much as I can

if your motherboard has onboard graphics, try plugging in your monitor there and enabling the GPU

I tried that with a HDMI cable and it didn’t work, I’ll try it again for sure. Thanks for your help

Device manager only affects things in Windows ... has nothing to do with BIOS.

 

You could probably press F8 just as windows is about to load and select SAFE MODE then go in Device manager and select show hidden or disabled devices and enable the gpu back.

Replace F8 with whatever shortcut Windows 10 uses these days, if it was changed.

You'd have to be super fast or press key lots of times as you start the PC.

Reset your BIOS.

Start Windows with IGPU

Shutdown.

Reinstall video card.

Start windows.

I’ll try this when I get home, but the thing is as I said up in my super long explanation up there, I don’t blame you if you didn’t read it because how long it is, but this whole problem started because I was trying to find a solution to get into bios because it wouldn’t boot up if I pressed f2 to get into bios, but if I left my pc alone it would boot into windows no problem. I don’t know what I was thinking but decided to try and find a solution and I thought maybe disabling my GPU would work but it didn’t so now I have no clue what to do because I couldn’t even get into bios. If you want more info I recommend to read what I wrote up there in the original post. I will 100% try what you said and thanks for your time and help.

How do I reset bios because as of right now my bios screen does not show up at all. I fully explained my problem in the original post, but I will definitely try this. Thanks for your time and help. Ps I have a ASUS STRIX Z270H

I tried delete too, but the thing is I always used f2 and it always worked. Can I include a video to show what’s happening on here? It doesn’t even give me the option to go into bios though. It just doesn’t boot into anything if I press f2 or the other bios keys. It just says no signal, but if I restart and don’t touch any of the keys that would get me into bios it boots to windows, and now it doesn’t do anything anymore because I disabled my GPU.

If you take out your video card, the system will default automatically to the integrated graphics card.

You would be able to enter BIOS then. 

If you then shut down and re-insert the video card, the BIOS may or may not continue to use the onboard/cpu video card as "primary video card" and have video signal on that integrated video card connectors. Some BIOSes will automatically switch to any video card inserted in pci-e slots.

 

But the point is that what you do in device manager only changes things in Windows, basically tells Windows to load or not load video card drivers when it starts up. BEFORE Windows is started, when the bios goes through memory checks, detects hard drives and SSDs, figures out from which drive to boot, during this process you would still get image on the default video card.

Okay, would you have any idea why I wasn't able to enter into bios before I disabled my GPU? Because the only thing I did in bios was change IGPU from disabled to enabled. Is there a way to reset bios without being able to get onto it or being able to see the display. I have a ASUS STRIX Z270H motherboard.

You reset BIOS using a jumper on your motherboard.

 

Disconnect mains.

Push power switch on case to discharge any residual charge in capacitors.

Set clear CMOS jumper.

Reset clear CMOS jumper.

Job done.

 

Because you have reset BIOS it should force you into it by default next boot.
