I think you can still use Steam VR? I wouldn't care about the oculus tore anyway, all the games I want are on Steam. What about the data tracking? I know you said yes but is there a source for that or is it just an assumption? (It's a fair enough assumption in your defence)

You can still use the Rift with SteamVR.

I wish there was a VR headset that was the Rift, Rift controllers, but used lighthouses and had nothing to do with Facebook.

Right but what's the point as oculus has exclusives and yes you bet they have massive amounts of data farming.

The vive pro with the updates controllers is pretty solid and also pretty expensive. The reverse tracking is shit and when you loose tracking it breaks all immersion. The steam developed headset looks promising with built in hand tracking so no need for controllers technically

I don't care about any of the oculus exclusives, I only care about games that are also on Steam. (not just because they are on Steam, it just so happens that they are all on Steam). Can't you just ignore all of the oculus bullshit and only install steamVR and use it exclusively through there? 

 

The Vive Pro isn't worth the money, better off buying a Pimax 5K, controller and lighthouses and then some games for the same price.

I like my rift a lot but the fact that it needs to be tied to Facebone is an annoyance. I got a good laugh when it asked me to link my FB account and I don't have one.

 

At the same time though, there is no way in hell I'm spending $650 on a vive. It really isn't worth it. I didn't want MR because I wanted something that didn't use inside out tracking, and everyone I know that uses them (or at least their specific ones) has some sort of issue with it.

At the same time though, there is no way in hell I'm spending $650 on a vive. It really isn't worth it. I didn't want MR because I wanted something that didn't use inside out tracking, and everyone I know that uses them (or at least their specific ones) has some sort of issue with it.

I have a Lenovo Explorer. They're comparatively much cheaper, but the build quality etc. still feels fine to me. I haven't really had a problem with the tracking. The only problem for me is that the link to SteamVR is super inconvenient. I've stopped using my headset because I don't want to deal with more time troubleshooting than actually using the headset. I don't know if it's SteamVR or WMR that's causing the problem, but it sucks.

 

Meanwhile, my friend has a Samsung Odyssey. The build quality and comfort is awesome, and he doesn't seem to have any problems getting his games up and running.

I saw a worrying increase in my productivity yesterday. I think I need to have counselling because I was doing what I was supposed to be doing and not sat on my phone, never before has this been witnessed. HHEELLPP
