USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 to Display Port 1.4

Hello, I am soon going to be getting Asus's new laptop the GX701 and will be using it with MSI's upcoming monitor that is 3440x1440 at 144hz. Both the laptop and monitor have HDMI 2.0 and I was planning on using it to connect the two devices, even though it does not have enough bandwidth to support the resolution and refresh rate. I was just going to sacrifice some HZ but then I saw that the laptop has a USB-C connection described as "USB 3.1 GEN 2 TYPE-C WITH DISPLAYPORT 1.4 POWER DELIVERY" It's almost guaranteed that the monitor will have DisplayPort 1.4, and I know that DP 1.4 has enough bandwidth. Does this mean that I can just use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and get the bandwidth required for 3440x1440 at 144hz? It just seems a bit too good to be true, which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance!
