Junk Bin Build for Mom

The MacBook Pro I gave my mom is acting up. I decided to build her a replacement using junk bin parts I currently have, plus one or two uses parts bought online.

 

Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 (4C/4T 2.5GHz)
  • CPU Cooler: Lenovo OEM cooler
  • Mobo: Colorful C.P45K (bought used)
  • RAM: 4x Kingston KVR DDR2-800 2GB
  • Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 1060 Gaming G1 3GB
  • SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
  • HDD: Samsung SpinPoint 1TB
  • ODD: PATA DVD-RW burner
  • HBA: Siba SATA 6Gb/s AHCI HBA
  • Wireless: Atheros 802.11a/b/g/n
  • PSU: Huntkey Panshi 500 (nom. 400W, bought used)
  • Case: EATX case used to hold my server
  • Display: Sony 1080p 3D TV over HDMI 1.4
  • OS: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

My mom is a light gamer and from time to time edits photos on her computer. Parts are already ordered, and they should arrive tomorrow.

I plugged in OP's CPU & GPU into a bottleneck calculator just for fun

 

Holy **** I have never seen a bottleneck percentage that high

I do have a GTX 650 Ti in my parts bin... Maybe sub that?
