Help choosing Video Editing software

I'm trying to learn how to edit videos and to do that I'm planning on capturing some gaming footage and just start off doing short meme clips with loads of edits.

My main goal isn't to produce videos but to learn something new.

I can't afford Premiere so I'm looking at Shotcut, Blender and Lightworks. I do get the feeling that an experienced editor can switch between any software but they would be much slower because of the different interface and so professionals just go with premiere/finalcut for the most features and stick with it. Please let me know if I'm wrong on this.

I'm inexperienced but a steep learning curve is fine as long as I feel confident I'm working with a good program. So if anyone would help me make an informed decision I'd really appreciate it.

Resolve all the way.

Color-grading is awesome, and it is quite intuitive for what it provides.

Newest version of Resolve, Resolve 16, has many improvements and new features.  Installed on my MBP for testing while studio workstation PC runs the more stable version 15 for the moment.

yeah what would i know about cameras or cinematography compared to you tech people.  i've only done this work for nearly 20 years, won a few awards, worked in over a dozen different countries and a few multi million dollar projects
