Some Xeon Phi also used this socket with up to 72 cores and 288 threads, not surprised

Assuming I can even get a board, I would hope that on default settings and no load it wouldn't break anything, therefore if it did it would be a faulty chip and that equals no sale.

While it's true that there isn't strictly a Skylake-EP, Geekbench does list Cascade Lake chips as being "Skylake E/EP". It's possible that this is where the chip's owner is getting that from. I guess we'll find out ?

The older archs used EP and EX, Skylake uses SP. Cascade Lake isn't out yet (as in GL buying one) but will use SP and AP. Geekbench is just assuming old naming types, even though we actually know what they are, they still have Skylake wrong. But given that the person selling it owns it they should know what it is and won't need Geekbench to tell them.
