Personally - I would get an ultrabook. Something along the lines of the (2018, not 2019) Razer Blade Stealth or the Dell XPS 13. While it does not meet your want for a GPU, as a school lapop it will serve you much better. I have a RBS and I can honeslty say I have no regrets. It can still do some gaming - nothing intensive - with decent frames on lower settings (and the resolution down to 1920x1080 - it still looks wonderful however)

Bow down to me humans.

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Also, be a sport and mark the correct answer as the correct answer. It will help pour souls in the future when they are stuck and need guidance.

"If it works, proceed to take it apart and 'make it work better.' Then cry for help when it breaks." - Me, about five minutes ago when my train of thought wandered.

Remember kids, A janky solution is still a solution.

RIG:

CPU: Intel Core i7 7740X

GPU: MSI Twin FORCE GTX 750 Ti

MOBO: ASUS X299 TUF Mark II

RAM: 16GB HyperX Fury

CASE: Corsair Carbide 500D

PSU: TooQ 750W 80+ Platinum

=== ===================================== ===

=== STORAGE:                              ===

=== 1x 250 GB SanDisk Plus SSD (OS)       ===

=== 1x 1TB Western Digital Black (GAME)   ===

=== 2x 500GB Western Digital Blue (MEDIA) ===

=== ===================================== ===

Peripherals:

MOUSE: Logitech MX Master (OG version)

KEYBOARD: Medion OEM

Rationale behind the i7 7740X;

Basically I had a friend who I had met online selling the aforementioned CPU, and I jumped. He did knock a heavy load off the price and to be fair I am quite happy. Along with the mobo, which I bought new, but on sale on PC Part Picker, I paid about £300 for the motherboard and CPU, which is about £100 off the asking price. Do I regret not going Ryzen? Yes. Am I annoyed that I went for it? Never. Coming from a Pentium, this was like gold.

Planned Upgrades:

GPU: Summer 2019 - Planned upgrade to GTX 1060 6GB / 1070

Storage: Christmas 2018 - Planned upgrade to Samsung 950 M.2 SSD for the boot drive, and a new WD Black 3TB drive to replace current setup.

Case, Displays & Keyboard: Summer 2019 - Planned. No replacement chosen.

It succ to have gaming laptop for school, (i have tried it) it is heavy, it has poor battery, but it has the power, but ultrabook will be still more than enough for school( i am personally doing programming so i am getting macbook pro 13") But any other ultrabook will be better than gaming laptop - dell xps 13, blade stealth, lenovo carbon or macbook( if macOS isn't your enemy..)

btw. even lot of graphics on my school are jusing just 13" version of macbook that doesn't have dedicated gpu and still can made 3D modeling and everything they need.

Ultrabook is better at everything.

Huawei Matebook 13 or the 14 (coming soon) will give you ultrabook formfactor with a small dGPU (mx150/250) for light gaming.

Gaming laptops is not something you really want for school.

btw, these arent specs for a regular school laptop. because you do not need a dGPU or massive storage for that.

here is great school laptop. not great valuewise, but buildquality and overall port selection is fantastic.

or save your cash and pick up one of these instead. get yourself a desktop with the rest of the cash if you need for a more power.

you can also wait for the Matebook 14 to come out in late April. its a Matebook 13 with better port selection.

10 hours baterry life

10 hrs is quite a lot, 8 hrs would be more realistic. Fine with 8 hrs?

No preference on weight? Kindly provide the links in web address form

If you're wanting to max your budget, you have many options.

However if you are looking to save some money on something that can still game, you could consider the ACER Nitro 5.

There are several options in that series that can fit to your needs.

Weight range from 2kg-2.7kg

Some reviews mention the AMD version of this laptop runs at a lower TDP and not as hot meaning the battery lasts longer too as less power is consumed.
