im looking for a blu-ray drive. suggestions?

could be internal or external, just has to be compatible with my computer specs

This is the model I have, only paid like $60 for it when I bought it so I have no idea why it's so expensive now. Maybe I just got it on sale and forgot lol. It's been a good drive though and I haven't had any issues with reading or writing blu-rays. Just remember that you'll need special software to play Blu-ray movies since things like Windows Media Play don't support it.

got a Blue ray writer many yrs ago, if your PC supports sata, it should work.

got a internal 5.5" (off brand?) from taobao for roughly US20 , nothing fancy, just works

For playback I use Cyberlink's PowerDVD. I've heard you can get them to work with VLC however but I never tried it since I had already purchased the software before I had ever heard of VLC xD

VLC support needed a third party plugin that no longer seems to be supported. I tried about a year ago with no luck.

 

I don't watch Blu-ray disks much but when I do I use Leawo Blu-ray. Can be a bit clunky but it is free. I usually just rip the disk with MakeMKV.
