LTT Conglomerate main discussion thread

So if I was to prepurchase the game right now with the 40 dollar package, what all would I have access to/would be playable?

you would get access to the alpha/betas which means that you can load in and see your ship in game right now, with the $40 package you also get the Aurora MR, which is a upgraded model of the Aurora ship. You also get some UEC credits (in game currency), 3 months of insurance and the base game (both single and multiplayer) with manual.

Mercenary. I don't work very well with teams unless we have a fit plan. I usually get my part of the bounty and leave. I usually get on server and stay quiet and under the radar.

I'll join when the PC can open the game.

From the sound of things we will be able to have our own buildings on specific planets, I'm really looking forward to walking into the LTT military command to ask for a fighter escort for a trade mission into pirate territory. SPACE BUREAUCRACY IS OP!

Man I would love to join but I will be going off for my first year of college when the game comes out so I probably won't be playing. Plus I'd have to build a new rig which I wouldn't have the money for :( . But hopefully sometime in the future i'll be able to come in and join!

So I checked, and I have the Aurora with the LTI...

Only problem is now I'm torn between getting an Avenger or and Origin 325a... Any thoughts?

From everything that I've heard and read the Avenger is supposed to be more of a "tank" in terms of durability, the trade off being a little less powerful when it comes to maneuverability and speed compared to the 325a, which is supposed to be a lighter and more nimble fighter ... but if you get a few direct hits on it it's toast. Both have been coined as "bounty hunter ships" at one point or another. Since the LTI will carry over, and if bounty hunting is your thing, I'd melt down the Aurora and apply that towards one of the two. Which you chose depends on how you want to play. Personally I'd pick the Avenger as I prefer to have some resilience and rely heavily on my accuracy. Where as the 325a would be more of a duck and weave then strafe strat I'm guessing.

But to be clear (to everyone), I see a lot of people discussing here and there which ship they think is the "best" fighter, and it should  be known Chris Roberts has said over and over again "depends on the pilot." His plan is to keep every ship in a particular "class" balanced. If you think one ship has a distinct advantage in one area Chris will make sure that it has a weak-point that can be exploited by a talented/knowledgeable enemy pilot. For instance you may be tough, but you'll be slow ... so a nimble fighter with a talented pilot just may run circles around you, literally lol Plus your build will be a major factor, some ships can be equipped for stealth, or that same ship can be equipped to be more of a "gunslinger" so to speak (the Hornet variants  are a perfect example of this) so that will greatly effect how you play as well. Even the type of shield you equip will make a big difference as some are better at deflecting energy weapons while that same shield is vulnerable to projectile weapons and vice versa. The key is picking a ship (and possibly a variant) that fits the type of roll you want to fill. Do you want to explore? Do you want to trade? Do you want to fight? Do you want to mine? Do you want to run information across the galaxy? et cetera Each ship has a niche and then picking a variant (if it currently has one) will narrow you down even further into a specific roll you want to fill. But another thing Chris has said over and over again, we're not buying anything we won't be able to simply get in the game after earning enough credits.

Sorry lol I know that was long winded, but there's a lot to consider. The game has gotten really deep (and freaking massive!) since they announced it well over a year ago now. Anyway, I hope that helps anyone who is new to or who hasn't had the time to keep up with all the info. See you in the verse' =)

The cheapest option to get into the alpha/beta is $40 currently. The Aurora MR + package, comes with :

  • Starting Money: 1,000 UEC (the in-game currency)
  • 3 Month Insurance (ship insurance)
  • Digital Star Citizen Manual
  • Squadron 42 Digital Download (single player)
  • Star Citizen Digital Download (multi-player, persistent universe)
  • Beta Access
  • Alpha Access

Does that mean that after 3 months I need to pay for my ship again if I get shot down or something. Because I have very strong feelings about games where I need to pay some sort of timed fee. unless it costs < 1-2 dollar/euro.

Seeing as I am the sheriff, I went the police ship, the Avenger. so I'll want to do a bit of bounty hunting/escorting.

And just because its cheap I got an aurora too.

Chris' favorite word to use when talking about Star Citizen is "immersion". He intends to make this game as real to life as humanly possible. So, just like you need insurance on your car, you need insurance on your ship. If you survive the destruction of your ship, (yes there is perma death, sort of) insurance will enable you to essentially go back to your hangar and jump in a new ship without too much hassle. No insurance, no new ship. Insurance will be paid via the in game currency, so It's not like real money is changing hands. If you're an original/veteran backer, you already have something called LTI (Life Time Insurance) where your ship is covered for life fee free.

Original and veteran backers got a few perks (every time a new stretch goal was hit) that are no longer available to new backers, Late November 2013 was everyone's last chance to get in on LTI, and is no longer available. Sorry =(

I'll be your escort don't wory and just keep your head down :P

BTW: If you need practice with general flying vehicle maneuvering, I would really recommend the MS Flight Sim X :)

Actually I think I can one up you on the organisation owning it's own building. There was a time right after the Bengal Carrier was announced as a "thing" in the perpetual universe, people went wild asking for weeks if it would be possible to capture one and re-purpose it. After a series of half answers from devs and Chris, Chris confirmed that yes you will be able to capture one and indeed turn it into your org's carrier. He said to keep in mind however that capturing one would be extremely hard because of the sheer numbers needed. In addition to that he said attempting to do so would more than likely result in accidentally destroying it rather than disabling it to a point where it could be captured. But ... it can be done. And we sure as hell have the numbers =)

Well we'll need to watch others do it first before we try :P Lest we fail the first time we go in to try and capture one and end up blowing it to kingdom come haha. Also I think the higher ups will be organizing this kind of operation so they'll announce it and probably give us a plan about what we're gonna be doing.

This is what I am really excited for, now that the org is way bigger than expected this should be atleast doable now, only problem is that if you aquire a ship this was it will be a "stolen" ship and will be constantly under fire whenever in UEE sectors :(  We have enough members we can just save for a legit one though.

I think the developers said that bengal carriers were not for sale, and you had to steal one to get one. I could be wrong though.

do you think you will have to call the insurance company and file a claim? then wait some 3 weeks for them to review the claim and get you a new ship? if so I may be excited for that.
