LTT Conglomerate main discussion thread

PTU 1.0.3 offers a broken avenger and a free tarantula-870 until February 27th, if someone is interested.

Edit: @CatCloud I'm so excited for the oculus since I had a chance to try it out @ gamescom and that was still DK1 with crappy demos.

Yeah same here but at a different event. I actually forgot to try the dk2 last year..... Oh well.

You guys are talking about Oculus now? Got I wish I could try that!

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

@ixi_your_face

I'm glad to know that at least one other person commented about the paper-mache pirate ship. I am still unsure whether to keep my cut blue or not...

Anyways, tried doing double omnisky VI and three badgers, seems to work half the time. Any suggestion for a new cutlass owner?

Still new, but learning

If you wanna do anything decent in dogfighting or swarm, i'd trade up or get another ship, cutlass just isn't ready yet, which is sad.

I've got my other paper tank waiting on it's proper outfit still. Need dem longswords on my aurora

Waiting on the karthu-al, but no clue if it will be remotely decent since it only has the two hardpoints; the mobility was what interested me.

So my ships are the Xi-an scout and the cutlass blue, what would you suggest if I trade up if I swap out the cutlass? I like it, but it has poor acceleration while being too fragile and too big, bad combination. I think the blue will be better than the black, so I won't worry too much until I finally try that out as well. Just not sure what 'big' ship I actually want.

I want survivability with the ability to retaliate and shove their hardpoints where the sun don't shine, but I don't really need complete air superiority. Pretty much multi-talented merc, crewman, etc.

Still new, but learning

I'll think about it some more, I'm still considering a rift.

I have a dk2 and as cool as it is, I don't believe it will become a legitimate way to play games. Even with a higher resolution it's gonna be difficult because of couple of reasons:

- If you decide to fly with a stick and do fps with k+m then you have to switch between them often. With a rift it's not so easy.

- Even in 4k resolution the small hud texts might be a little tough to read

- The hardware will suffer - rendering the game twice for each eye is tough - especially in a heavy game like this

- with a rift you can't use your tablet apps or any other printed materials like maps/manuals etc. and sometimes they are handy in bigger sims like SC.

I really like my rift but play games with trackIR in the end.

Hope that helps :)

I totally agree with this, DK2 is a long way from anything more than casual gaming IMO and it probably wont be till CV2 or 3 before it might become a valid option for competitive gaming because they need a lot of external things to come into play before then, from controls to 'semi-transparency' (pass through cameras) to see the real world when need be.

Its really f***n cool no doubt but no where near as practical as a normal screen, I could see myself cruising in CV1 but not dogfighting. Simulation sickness is another major hurdle, its not so bad when your in a cockpit or third person but FPS (particularly the more realistic it gets) is really bad.

If I remember correctly (I did the math a long time ago) to match a 27" 1080p screens pixel density at a viewing distance of 50cm they need a 16K screen in there so that gives you an idea of what @Maciek means when he's talking about the UI potentially not being great, not to mention long range viewing. You also ideally need to maintain over 80-90fps while doing that :S

I love the experience and the sense of scale it gives you (seriously Titans of Space blew my mind) but I still reckon it'll be a couple of consumer versions in before we might see a competitive gaming experience on it.

On the other hand MS's HoloLens could be a legit accessory if it can deliver on what its promising, using a screen for detail and AR for some of the peripheral/HUD elements could be amazing... but then there's the track record of the Kinect and all its promises...

I still can't wrap my head trackIR I know what it does, I know how it works but it doesn't make sense in my head.

Personally I can't wait for the rift but I'm hoping that they manage to lower the processing power required. I'd be happy to lower the resolution as long as there was no major effect to my eyes because for me its the ability to look 90° to the left or right that matters.

So this guy made the original imagine trailer. It's not brilliant but I thought this was pretty cool.

It lacked oomph but I liked it overall! The dude voiced it himself though? wow

"sees the Orion"

BRB i need new pants....

i so want that....all my yes...

I sort of wonder if anyone else is getting it. The scary thing is that talking with someone over the possible perks might actually push me over the edge of getting it. The simple point of lifetime insurance by itself is the key.

Huge ship, high cost, virtually little self defense in outer space with people licking their lips wanting a piece. You will lose it at some point, no question, only issue is what cost would it be to continuously insure that monstrous rig? If you have that insurance, it would give you a leg up on competition and give you a higher profit margin, let alone security. Especially for a ship meant to go into the unknown and face pirates, vanduul, etc.

Not to mention what sort of leg up you might have when you run this thing at the start of full release. All those merchants and all those explorers going about, but what will they do with what they find? Well, someone will be there with an orion sucking up those gas clouds, getting started on those fresh belts or moons or even removing some pesky asteroids so that the Vogon may build an Intergalactic Highway (points to anyone who get the reference).

Still new, but learning
