ASRock Z270M - Video Output issue

Hi guys, 

Fried my brain trying to work this out and I am at my wits end. 

Built a new pc with the follwing components:

 

ASRock Z270M Extreme4

I7-6700K

2x 8gb lpx corsair vengeance ram

Gamemax 1050w psu

Windows 10 Home Edition

 

Everything was working fine, that was until I popped in the gpu after installing windows updates etc..

I'm not sure if the motherboard is struggling to work with my GPU EVGA 980Ti Sc, It refuses to display any video output when plugged in, even through HDMI with the motherboards on board graphics. 

I disconnected it and went into the Bios and set it to prioritise the on oboard graphics for video output, plugged the gpu back in and plugged the HDMI into the onboard graphics, it now displays video to my monotor again, I download the latest drivers for the gpu and they seem to be identified.

So i then shutdown, change the video output back to pcie in the bios and the same thing happens as before, it refuses to give any video output regardless of where the HDMI cable is plugged in. 

 

Apologies for the bad explanation, wondering if anyone could help?

Have you tried a BIOS update on the Board without the GPU being plugged in?

Have you tried the GPU in another system?

@ShadowlessoneTry an output that isnt HDMI. Which on that card is probably DVI.

I hadnt even considered that.. the simplest things. It worked, thank you so much. Puzzled as to why though

I have the exact same card in a different pc and hdmi worked fine with no issues.

hardware fault with the card
