Is this £48 GTX960 4GB fake ?

Faisal A

Hi,

I have recently seen this cheap GTX960 4GB on ebay for £50 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GTX960-4GB-GDDR5-128bit-PCI-E-Gaming-Video-Graphics-Card-for-NVIDIA-GeForce-New/123679040792

Is it fake ? And how do you recognize a fake ?

I'd be heavily cautious about this, according to that screenshot (depending on how legitimate it actually is), its a stock Nvidia GTX 960 card and in their desciption they said they specially modified it to upgrade it to 4GB of ram, which I can't say if its possible or even helpful. So it could be real, but I'd doubt that it actually works as good as it claims, if it even does in the first place.

@MarbleHornets@XR6 And how do you differentiate a fake from a real one ? Is it just the price and additional ports that arn't normally on a stock card ?

Biggest thing is, if its too good to be true, then its not going to. And you have to look at what information the seller is giving with you with a grain of salt in mind, since images can be easily altered. But looking that it's supposed to be built off of a stock GTX 960, which never came with VGA, is a dead give away.

Also I'd watch LTT's Aliexpress graphics card reviews they did, they put out some good points.

No they won't, vendors can choose how many outputs they put on the card but they won't use an output that wasn't on the stock card.

That's fake too. Price isn't the only thing. Look at the rear IO. It's the exact same as the 960 and doesn't match with the stock one. Google searches turn up nothing but crap units and bad reviews these days and all the ones being sold have the exact same picture. The OEM/stock one has the VGA and DVI ports flipped too.

Edit:

Additionally, see below, spec sheet lists only a 512MB and 1GB variant, no such thing as a 4GB model.

Fake too because there isn't a 4GB HD7670, the real ones were sold with 512MB or 1GB of memory per AMD:
