Because that's their value, not a great cpu

https://m.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Athlon+X4+845&id=2721

It's also based on a Mobil Chip and it has been tweaked for Desktop use, so normally you'd find these on smaller dies for Laptops. It's not the latest or greatest, performs "well"

Could do in a budget gaming rig but don't rely on the Integrated graphics (if any)

I feel this would be something for like a HTPC, the FM2+ platform is dead, so if you're looking for upgradability i'd recommend looking for something else

https://amzn.to/2OLiLGq have a look at this?

so it does good compared to other things at the same price (in Australia) but Upgradeability is important

so its ok?( in a budget setup) but the platform as you said , is dead

https://amzn.to/2OLiLGq have a look at this? Newer format more upgradability options

Do you have a budget and a build you need?

Its old, not very good, basically a dual core.

No upgrade path.

The x4 950 is not really any better but at least is supports AM4 a modern socket.

Basically, the X4 845 gets beaten by a cheapo Ryzen 3.

That ain't cheap, that's expensive.

That is cheap!

The reason is that its an old CPU and got price cuts - something unbeknownst to the Intel Side for many years.

it's an old cpu that competed with haswell pentiums, with an architecture that couldn't even compete with sandy bridge all that well. now even 2 of these strapped together wouldn't be able to outperform a ryzen 3 in gaming.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W
