Do not buy from newegg!!!

And not once did you think about taking the card there and asking for a refund? You can still ask for a refund through the eBay merchant as well, since you made it a point to say that you live so close to them however it would be easiest to just drop by/give them a call to see what they can do for you.

All I have seen in this thread is that you got a product you need to RMA (not exactly unheard of in the PC component market...) and the only thing you've done about it is come to the forum to complain, you haven't even TRIED to rectify the situation on your end by even giving them a call. If you're chalking this up as a poor experience with them because of this it's literally due to your own inaction...

Also the box when I got the card was sorta damaged and what not.

Also let this be a lesson learned to reject damaged packages...

Personally I have shopped at Newegg in the past without issue. But I was informed a few months back they had a data breach and credit card data was stolen. That's the reason I don't shop there.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

My order history goes back to 2006 with no issues.  I don't buy much from them now because Amazon has quicker shipping.

I don't recommend any of my fellow friends on LTT to buy from newegg or newegg ebay!  Now I have a RTX card that is botched and I don't feel like doing a RMA and losing my card for a week or what not.....  :(

Two out of the last sixteen cards that I have purchased have had to be RMAed. With those odds I don't sell my old cards. Right now my spare is a GTX 1080.

The last RMA I did took almost a month. That was a GTX 980 ti. Fortunately it was in SLI.

Go and get yourself a RTX 2080 ti. It will make you feel better at least until you get the credit card bill.

Yeah I've personally always used newegg for my parts and never had a issue with them, only issue I had was that a card I had arrived damaged but that was a shipping issue and not a Newegg issue

Bought from Newegg, never had an issue, ever. Some stuff even came the day after I ordered it when I payed for 3-5 day shipping.

Bought from eBay, never had an issue other than one seller never shipping the product but eBay hooked me up with a refund so it's bueno. IDK what you're on.

As for your card having issues, happens to anyone ordering from anywhere at any time and it's random. That's why RMA's exist, to replace faulty cards not caught before they shipped them out to resellers.

Even though Newegg has declined a bit over the years, I still trust Newegg far more than I trust misbegotten Amazon. That breach was for only transactions that happened over a short period of time. Newegg has since fixed it and added additional security (sadly, that includes a CAPTCHA one has to endure but it's better than nothing).

Breaches are going to be a fact of life for the foreseeable future so build a bridge and get over it. If you get a card compromised, just freeze it and get another one.

I have a card I use only for online purchases and only put enough money in the account to cover a purchase. Even though I will get my money back if the card is compromised and drained, I'm ornery enough to want to minimize the amount of money a crook can get.

I've used Newegg for over a decade and never had a problem with Newegg itself. Occasionally, a carrier will mess up but that can happen with any vendor. I had one carrier--DHL-develop a pattern of messing up (and wouldn't repond to my inquiries) so Newegg agreed to stop using that vendor for my purchases. Occasionally, I have received defective merchandise (which can happen with any vendor) which Newegg replaced as long as I returned the defective merchandise within their 30 day window.

I had good buys at Newegg but one time I bought a new Asrock DGS 1155 motherboard. It arrived with a damaged socket and the box looked opened. I sent it back with an RMA and they decided that I damaged the board and returned it.

That really made me mad that I complained on ResellersRating site and left a bad review. The Newegg boss contacted me and said to send the board back and I'll get a new one plus a $25 credit. I go the new board and I was able to finish my build.

Now I buy everything on Amazon.

One bad experience doesn't make for the entire store being bad... Since you claim the box was damaged, it's likely to have been shipping induced, not from Newegg. I've had terrible shopping experience with pretty much every stores out there.
I would try to get a shipping label to have it sent back to newegg if I was in OP's shoes. Keeping "broken" product is never a good idea. Especially when you consider that if the manufacturer sees "physical damage", they might refuse to honor their warranty due to abuse. (even if you didn't damage it yourself... go prove that to a manufacturer, you can't)

That said... I've bought a few things on newegg over the years, including whole refurb systems and never had any issues.

But, quite frankly... Amazon has lower prices these days and they have free shipping on orders above 35$... which is pretty much always the case with PC hardware, soooooooo.... The likelihood that I'm buying my next PC on Amazon is high.... I miss NCIX, they had great prices, price match, only needed to pay the 5% in taxes compared to the 15% with Amazon...

Geez, one bad experience and write off the entire company. Come on man.

I've been buying from NewEgg for over 10 years. I've spent thousands with them. I ordered a 3 shelf glass TV stand from them a while back and one shelf was shattered. Know what I did? I frickin returned it and got a replacement. Shit happens. And there's nothing wrong with buying from their eBay store either. It comes from the same warehouses. I got my Pioneer 7.2 Atmos receiver through NewEgg's eBay store and it was brand new and perfect working order. Got it for hella cheap too. I have never ordered anything new and got something used. And even if that did happen, their service is always pretty good and I'm sure they'd take care of it.

Now what you DON'T do with NewEgg is buy from a third party seller on there. Stick to Sold and Shipped by NewEgg only. I'm willing to bet a large number of people that complain about NewEgg weren't actually buying from them.

Was expecting a story about poor customer service. This is more like a buyer beware about shopping online in general. Sometimes you get duds, sometimes couriers kick/throw boxes around. I'd get your complaint if Newegg told you to go kick rocks, but that doesn't even appear to be the case.

Newegg's Hybrid center is right down the road from me, so they're a very convenient place to get market-price on things I need immediately. Their prices are competitive, but I hardly go to Newegg for a 'hot deal' anymore.

It's easy when the nearest physical shop that has what you want or need is a few hundred miles away.

That is crappy, I too am sorry that is happening to you, one thing about Newegg that people overlook, I myself included, is that they are a storefront for other sellers. And it is they who give the crappy service most of the time. Not Newegg. It has happened to me once. I wish that Newegg policed them better. When Tiger Direct got bought out it left very few places to buy tech at a good price, good shipping, and good customer service.  I left hours away from any place that would sell the things I need, mail order is a godsend.

Before I moved to a state with a microcenter I would use newegg exclusively.

The problem is that over the years the quality of their service has declined along with their customer service. The last experience I had with them was terrible and if I did need to order parts online I would probably use Amazon first these days.

The last experience I had was for a PC case for a relative I was going to build a machine for. The box was completely crushed in shipping and I refused the shipment. Well newegg decided they were going to charge me a restocking fee and make me pay to re-ship a new item all because I didn't notify them before denying the shipment.

Basically, they said I should have accepted it and then requested a return with a new shipping label. This was one of the rare times I chose to use them and after having this experience I decided it would be the last.

In the end I ordered the case from Amazon and filed a dispute with my bank claiming services not rendered. I got back my original purchase amount and newegg lost the business and the money.

I've been buying from newegg in both the US and Canada for the last 15 years. Every single time their shipping is lightning fast and their customer service is wonderful. I absolutely recommend them to everybody.

WITH THAT SAID: Recently they started allowing 3rd party sellers on the site, which I didn't like. When I buy from newegg I always only buy the products sold and shipped by newegg.

Buying used is always going to be a game of chance. I usually do ok though. Newegg is fine . It can be a PITA to call them but their chat service is pretty good. Just RMA and be done with it. Amazon is ok when you know exactly what you want or don’t really have time to compare . I don’t reccomend people buy from there because they reccomend whatever they want based on algorithms not real knowledge. I’m not saying Newegg is perfect but atleast when I filter graphics cards I don’t get empty boxes and mouse pads and other BS showing up as results.
