Intel Centrino Wi-Fi Card

star_pilot475

So I bought this Intel Centrino WiFi/Bluetooth card for the mini pcie slot on my pc so that I could stop using the USB WiFi adapter. I popped it into the slot and my pc won’t recognize it, any tips to help set it up?

is your minipcie slot enabled in bios?

sometimes it shares resources with sata ports/controllers or pci-e x1 slots...

I totally forgot about that! That’s probably what it is! I’ll get back to you and let you know if it works.

So... not so successful. I did a little more research and maybe it’s because I don’t have antennas for it???? I suppose it makes sense that you can’t just have the card plugged in and have it work.

It would still detect, its most likely one of the newer cards that have part of the WiFi chipset in the CPU.  They only work with compatible CPUs.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

Ok, so now it’s detecting and I can see it in Device Manager, but still can’t use WiFi or Bluetooth without my USB adapter.

Well you DO still need the antennas.
