No. The May update has no more new features.

WSL 2 is for, at the very least, the following version of Windows 10 (19H2, but could be 20H1)

I can still speculate that it's an excuse for a master take over plan. XD

  • 2 weeks later...

Windows 10 May 2019 Update is out!

Microsoft has started to release the May 2019 update in waves to seeker (those who manually check for updates).

Please note:

  • Make sure your drivers are fully updated before checking for updates. This include things like: memory card reader and sound card (especially if you have the Creative X-Fi physical sound card)
  • Make sure all your installed games are fully updated (related to if you need to manually update them)
  • If you use a security software, make sure they are all fully updated.
  • Once you have the above, you should be ready in getting the update, however, it may still not show up if you are not part of the wave release. You'll need to be patient. They are updates block in place already as well, so if you are affected by them, it may be best to wait.

If you want to force the update, you can, by running the Windows 10 Update Assistance (https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10 - click on "Update now" blue button). As we speak, Media Creation Tool has not been updated to fetch the May 2019 update. If you force the update, be sure to follow the bullets point mentioned before running it.

Downloading the ISO right now to be clean installed on all my PCs.
I'm hoping it will fix some issues I'm having on my laptop... where the Ethernet driver fails to initialize with Windows for some unknown reason. (I had seen that issue with Wifi before.. but not Ethernet.)

Update:

Microsoft has released a page showing "Known issues" with the May 2019 update at this time.

If you want to force the update process, be sure that you are not affected by the known issues (normally, update blocks should be in place, so it should get you the update, the issue is really if you force the update):

I have read a few people reporting issues after blocking and resuming Windows update at a later time. I think Microsoft simply tests supported upgrade flows only.

@GoodBytes

yeh it may have just been convenient timing,

how ever I now have a bricked system that affected the MSI motherboard since the  may update forced itself onto my my sons computer.

the system is under warranty so am hoping we can come to some mutual arrangement seeing as their store is a 600km return trip...

I get a black screen, no msi logo, and pressing DEL key has no effect.

Still don't have Oct. 2018, but that's probably because I never reinstalled after swapping out my intel mobo and cpu for ryzen.
