Limit wifi range

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

One of my neighbors says that they can see my wifi from one block away. How can I limit my wifi range so it only covers the area of my house and not the whole neighborhood?

My router is a NETGEAR N600 Dual Band Wi-Fi Router (WNDR3400)

Why do you care?

I'd be boasting about that

You can't really without making the wifi in your own home worse. Use a password or change the name to something super generic if it bothers you for some reason.

I had a dream where Linus picked me up. It was wonderful.

You can disable ssid broadcasting if you want nobody to see your wifi.

My sound system costs more than my PC.        Check out my S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

some routers have the option to lower the Tx/Rx power. that will limit your range.

as people state tho, that could also negatively affect you
