RM850 Gold

Yakusoku

Quick question...

I'm upgrading my 980ti into a 2080ti in a few weeks. Will my old RM850 hold up? Being a 850w it should be plenty enough power, I think(?)

Concerned it being and oldie and an RM series, that if it would be fine for a 2080ti?

The PSU will be powering my still going strong 4790k as well.

Thanks!

It could just about power two 2080 Ti's, it's certainly plenty for a single one.

Ok thanks, I'm just worried that its not "good" enough.

Been reading on not skimping on PSU's so just wanted to be careful.

For how long have you had that unit? Do you feel like it is too loud?

Generally, I would replace it with something more modern, i.e. Whisper M or Corsair RMi, because that unit has single 12V rail, something that is not recommended for high wattage PSUs

Depending on the rest of your components, 550-650W should be enough.

I got it in 2015.

As for loudness I'm not sure, my 980ti is the reference model so if anything its the loud thing in my system. Would you say it is a required replacement when I get the 2080ti installed?
