Can I attach a on /off switch to my pc fan which is connected to psu ?

A case fan is connected to the psu so it runs at full speed throughout , the sound is a big distraction when I am using my PC for light tasks . The Fan is this one which is a two header fan connected to the psu via this Molex 3-pin adapter , so can I cut one wire of the fan and add a on off switch in between. My major concerns are : 1)What type of switch to use because of the psu power output. 2) will it damage my computer as I have no Idea about this.

And yes I know that Fan power controllers exist ,I can't buy it so please don't suggest those .

is that fan not mounted to anything?

from the looks of it your machine might not even need that fan

The fan doesn't use that much power so almost any toggle switch will do. All you need to do is put it on the positive (usually red) wire. I'm sure you can imagine the rest.

You go to a hardware/electronic store and you buy this

Or any one that you like.

Cut one wire(preferably the +, it's the red/yellow one).

and between you solder the ends to the switch.

I’d unplug it or replace it with a pwm fan. 

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz
