Most games crash on launch, please help

OtterlyDumb

One by one, my games won't start. I know it's not a graphics card issue, since I replaced it for other reasons after the issue started.

Most games start, then either show a black screen or crash. I have my main drive copied over to my secondary, and steam runs games off of either. That's all I can really say, other than I can't update my drivers because my internet is way too slow to download new drivers.

But it's not too slow to download games from steam?

does this machine then not have anything updated besides the drivers? Becuase windows updates are larger than drivers

I've never had to update Windows
And about half of my steam games need an update.

How can your internet possibly be that slow? Get that fixed and get the drivers.

OK, I'll find a way to download the drivers elsewhere
And I can't really get better internet, we have the fastest plan we can get.

Then you basically will have absolutely no way to diagnose software issues this machine has

With the machine so incredibly far out of date theres no way to determine what the issue would be

You really are going have to update your system because running outdated software creates a slew of issues over time.

If your internet is "the fastest you can get" then im shocked at the service. Nevertheless, if you have a 4G signal you might have to bite the bullet and tether a connection to your mobile and suffer the high phone bill costs associated with all the updating you're going to have to do.

If you dont have a 4G network (or just cant tether your connection), then you will have to prepare for months of downloads before we can really give any advice here.

If you have 1-2Mb download, thats enough. Leave PC open for night to download and update Windows. Then go for GPU. We can't troubleshoot further as first step of troubleshooting software issues is to get latest drivers and updates to eliminate that. Next would be GPU temps and any drive/memory usage issues.

Seriously though, what kind of internet is it?

Is it maybe possible for you to take your computer to a friend's home, or to your work, or anywhere where there's a decent wifi, and download the updates there?

Ryzen 1600x @4GHz

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

16 GB HyperX DDR4 @3000MHz

Asus Prime X370 Pro

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

Noctua NH-U14S

Seasonic M12II 620W

+ four different mechanical drives.

I live in the middle of the woods, It would work great in theory, but trees and stuff.

And I do plan to have someone download whatever I need on a thumb drive at a place with faster internet.

I just told you. Leave it download and install during night and day when you are at school/work.
