Reduce Coil whine

Hello all,

I want to preface this with the fact that I do not know everything and this is just something that happened to work for me.

I upgraded from a GTX 1060 to an RTX 2070 EVGA XC Gaming https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J63W42X/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had terrible coil whine.. It's overclocked +80 on the core and +500 on the memory but that made no difference. I could hear it over fans turned all the way up.. I looked at buying a new PSU which I didn't want to do because this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079HGN5QS/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is only a month old in my system. I looked at UPS systems but i read that that might not even work so i figured I'm just screwed.

I happened to buy a new Motherboard. Going from this https://www.amazon.com/Prime-Z390-P-LGA1151-Intel-Motherboard/dp/B07HCT5GBD/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=asus+prime+z390p&qid=1553182368&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull to this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HCXT591/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That (mostly) fixed the coil whine!!!!! It's still there but i have to turn everything down and put the game on mute to hear it.

This post is not a how to guide on how to fix coil whine but hopefully someone can see this and see that there is another potential cause/fix for coil whine.

Hopefully people who know more than i do can chime in here. Thanks

Stupid statement. "EVGA is the worst brand out there!!". In what, exactly, and why? You can't just make such a statement and give no arguments.

My limited experience with EVGA tells me that this statement is false. The only EVGA product I've seen in person that is faulty/doesn't work/is broken was a used 970 SC that my friend got off ebay (seller did not list it as broken); long story short, the GPU had borked VRMs that coil whined with a primal screech before the GPU stopped giving video output. Something was def wrong because the back of the PCB was roughly 60C to the touch, I damn near burned my fingers taking it out of the system. Neither me or my friend know how that card broke, but it was either the seller or a previous owner at some point; GPUs don't ship like that, they either work or they don't.

All GPUs are different and some may have more coil whine than others. I'm not trying to go into who has more issues than who. I just want to start a discussion about Motherboard affecting coil whine. In my research i found no link between motherboard and GPU coil whine but mine went away with a different motherboard. I want to figure out why and maybe someone will find this helpful.
