2133 MHz too slow for ryzen?

I'm having problems with few games (The Division 2,AC:Origins,Metro Exodus),there is a lot of stuttering and fps drops,could my ram be the problem,i'm running single channel 1 stick of 2133 MHz DDR4 ram with Ryzen 5 2600 and RX 570.

not just 2133 too slow, but single channel instead of dual channel which is like 80% extra bandwidth

2133 is NOT the issue.  Its the single channel as stated above.  You will gain very marginal FPS from 2133mhz to 3000mhz.  Ryzen breathes through two channels, you are choking it.

There's a fairly significant different between 2133 and 3000 on Ryzen

 

But yeah dual channel is basically a requirement

Ohh,my bad, i didn't know that,i upgraded from i3 6100 to ryzen and since i didn't have any issues while i was on intel i thought i would be fine with AMD aswell.I will wait a bit more for ram prices to go down and then i will buy that 1 more stick or even 2 sticks of 3200 MHz.Thanks for the help people

Yeah the FPS bump is actually noticeable like 8-18FPS

I can only offer that you check it out yourself, on your PC with two different sets of speed rams then report back - like I have  The difference is 3-7 FPS on my rig.  Absolutely not worth changing to 3000+mhz for myself (since the 3000mhz sticks belonged to my brother).

 

Mostly people are regurgitating - have you checked these things in actual Use Case's?

Disagree - at least in my tests with two Ryzen 7 1700s (diff motherboards, same GPU's - the motherboard provided zero difference between the rigs) between 2133mhz and 3000mhz - was about a year ago on a few triple A titles and e-sport titles.  Nothing over 10% increase ever.

 

I look at PC components in 10% $100 increases that's how I make my decisions when I upgrade and I ran these tests (cause I had the option before buying) - I do not see these gains.

Yes, I run a 1700 and have gone through a few different kits for tests like this

 

In Adobe programs, in games and in stuff like large excel work I've had fairly significant performance differences between slower and faster running ram

What %?  Significant is definable   I witnessed 3-7% gains iirc depending on the titles

 

Im talking gaming only here, which is the OPs use case.

On my Ryzen 1200 going from 2133mhz to 3200mhz boosted FPS in games like Fortnite, GTA V, the witcher, and minecraft on average 8-18FPS. More realistically around 10FPS more on average. Same goes for intel CPUs now days

Gamers Nexus I think had something comparing ram speeds on 1st Gen ryzen and the difference was about 5 fps from 2133 to 3200

I did my tests about a year ago on those included titles sans Minecraft and Witcher (and never went over 3000 MHz) - resolution was 4k 60hz/ 2k 144hz/1080p 60hz panels in our trials using a RX 570 4gb.  I cant remember what mobo he has but mine is the B350 Prime, he has an 370 but the mobo didn't change squat. 

 

The difference (and something worth discussing) is the gains you saw were much higher likely do to a much slower single core getting some breathing room, whereas a 1700 had less efficiency gained for FPS building?

3000 and duo channels are both requirements.

There isn't any direct testing at 2133MHz and it also test timings, but it shows that more speed can significantly increase FPS.

  I can't speak for FPS, but I know my Ryzen 2600 scored 1238 points running 2400Mhz in Cinebench. Then after enabling XMP and running at 3200Mhz I scored 1379. Both were at a modest 3.8Ghz with no voltage change. As far as real world performance? Beats me.

This is certainly true, and its rely not that hard to get ram to 3000. Mine is very happy at 3000 from 2400.

Real world isn't something to worry about that much, it does yield a performance boost in games, like the post above but its nothing that dramatic, people have this mindset that it makes your PC so much better but it does not. It very minimal and if you cant get it its no big deal.

Get dual channel and pickup a x470 board to unlock its full potential. I just went from a B350 board to an x470 and the performance gain was quite significant. Ensure to enable an XFR profile so the CPU will overclock itself based on cooling power.

Yeah just depends on the quantity and number of dimms used. 128gbs is harder to get running at 3200mhz. So is 4 16gb kits or 8 8gb single stick kits

While performance gains are not constant (nothing is in this world I guess), but it is safe to say that on average, quite a bit of performance can be gained from good memory.
