Recommend me a Case

SolarNova

Greetings all.

I've decided I'm going to transfer my current system to a new case that has native support for my 3 rads, my current one is rather jury rigged to fit 3 240mm rad, a Monsta 240 in the front in push pull, using some mounting brackets bolted to the sides of the drive bays, there is no native support for a front rad. And one of the other 2 240 XSPC rads is bolted to the back of my case and sticks out to the side. See below.

Spoiler

IMG_20150124_144029.thumb.jpg.975a333ac57befa8a096cb59f24eaaf5.jpgIMG_20150124_144125.thumb.jpg.ed3c5eb7feb36dfa1144f3d9422071b5.jpgIMG_20150124_143935.thumb.jpg.0a245002355b876e634d8ebb0eada7d1.jpg

What I'm looking for, White case, ATX, side window, glass would be nice. Native support for 3x 240mm Rads, with one being a Monsta 240 in Push/Pull. So about 140mm thick.

Room for a XSPC Photon D5 270 res/pump

PSU shroud

Front bays, 2 would be ideal as i would like to get a couple fan controllers in the future, and currently i do have a CDRW installed, but in the end i could do without if i have to.

Front I/O, at least 2 USB (Mouse and KB) i use wired peripherals and sit a good distance from my PC so i cant use rear USB.

Don't care about RGB, or stock fans.

Don't care about HDD/SSD drive support, i only used SSD's they can go anywhere.

I live in the UK and don't particular care about price so long as its not some crazy high end boutique case.

Cheers

Minus the 2 5.25" bays, the Lian Li PC-O11Dw meets (almost) all those requirements. It cant fit 140mm worth of RAD+fans

The Thermaltake "The Tower 900" is a bit extreme but would work.

Hey thanks for the suggestions.

Afraid the The Tower 900 is out of the question, wont fit on me tabletop/desk, otherwise i may have considered it, even though it is damn expensive.

The Lian Li however is something to consider, how would one fit the D5 Photon 270 res though i wonder ? i cant see how there would be room. Also with the vertical GPU mount, would there be room for a sound card to be used still,

I think the PC-011D would have been great it it had extra space between the motherboard and Rad position, from what i can see how ever, it simply wont have room for my res if the Monsta rad is placed their, and its the only place it can go.

So still need some suggestions.

@TVwazhere

Whats your take on the Entho Primo Full Tower ?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk

From what I can see it fits the bill. Its white, has plenty of options for rads, including a push/pull 240 Monsta at the bottom, a 240 at the backside, 240 at the top, space for intake at the front, and then spare 120/140mm spots up the top and bottom. Space for a res/pump at the rear by the I/O, 5 front bays. half panel side window, not glass but.. meh.

And i can get it for £180, a tad over a £160 target but loos like the only guaranteed choice in terms of compatibility.

That would probably work since it relocated the PSU to the back giving you room for the rad. They're coming out with basically that case with a glass side panel called the Luxe 2 in Q2 2019 retailing for $190/190euro

Interesting case.

Though not white, more expensive, not front bays.

Unless u can see a glaring issue with the Entho Primo, i think i may just grab that.

Nothing glaring. Primo probably fits the bill best

OK thanks for the suggestions.

I've placed an order for the Ethoo Primo White edition. Along with 4m of White Tubing.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update:

Rebuilt my system into the Enthoo Primo.

Was a bloody nightmare, took well over a week mainly due to waiting on things to arrive. (GPU mount, then i ended up needing more distilled)

Me wanting the Res at the rear meant I ended up needing to get a vertical GPU mount as the res fitting and GPU fitting were to close, ofc i couldnt just get a 'normal' mount as i needed space for my sound card, ended up getting the Kaislin mount as it had much more adjustability than others available. Then i found out i had a similar spacing problem with the GPU to CPU fittings, this time the angle the tubing needed to bend, thankfully using my 2 90 fittings allowed for a straight run, though they look rather odd imo.

Despite having 5 more fans than my old system, its just as quiet, though the pump is a tad noisier now as it isn't as isolated from the case as in my last build. Previously it was attached via some foam padding to a L bracket, which was attached via foam padding to a wood block/spacer which was attached via foam padding to the bottom of my case. Now its just got 1 thin layer of foam ~1mm thick, between the stock bracket and the back of my case.
That said , its not an annoying sound, a low hum barely audible over ambient noises, and this is at its max setting of 5. All the fans are running roughly 900-1000 RPM.

Anyhow, all done now. Pics below.

Below you can see the airflow setup. The 2 white boxes indicate partitions i created to divide the exhaust air from the intake air as best as possible.

What i have is all the radiators exhausting. rear Top, rear bottom, and side. With the 140mm case fans all set to intake, front, bottom rear, front top, and front bottom.
