Maybe the ITX board will be worse off since brute forcing airflow to help the heat dissipation will help it less when the heatsinks are smaller.

I think I'll just go with the Tomahawk B450 and try my luck.

Damnit.

I just saw the B450 Mortar.. it has two M.2 ports which I really like the idea of.

Would the Mortar be be a lot worse than the Tomahawk in terms of VRM, i still see tons of people overclocking their 2700X to 4.x GHz so it should work, right? I will never ever use an APU so the lack of SOC vrm heatsinks is really no problem

It is worse but only by a little.

 

B450 Carbon has 2 M.2 slots and more on top of the Tomahawk so you can compare these two.

The thing is though, the Mortar is 20 bucks cheaper than the Tomahawk, and the B450 Carbon is 35-42ish bucks more expensive than the Tomahawk.

So price wise, the Mortar seems to make more sense right?

watching buildzoids video atm on the Mortar and he says manual OC 2700 should be fine on this, so it seems like its fine, ahh my brain

Hello again.

 

I have b450 pro carbon ac board ordered for 3700x, but looking around internet, msi forums and subreddit there are tons of people who cant even get it to POST succesfully, same goes for other MSI b450 boards. I might be overthinking it, but maybe i should cancel it and go for X470 Asus prime pro? It's just a bit more expensive for me, like 10 or 12 euro.

Yes it lacks bios flashback but i might borrow a CPU for BIOS update but what concerns me is VRM heatsink, will it be fine for 8 core? It does not look functional at all.

AMD hands out bootkits when you need them

 

btw, tomahawk does have a bios updater without cpu, not sure about pro carbon

 

and a lot of them forget to update the bios anyways

The thing about msi that people do update bios, but it doesnt post or post like 20% of time. MSI promised stable BIOS by the end of the month, but i'd like to dodge the bullet if possible.

true, even your finger is a better heatsink than that fashion accessory. MSI B450 Carbon should be fine even with the 16 core at stock, but the Prime Pro has no hope.

Imo that's because there are also tons of people buying their boards for the bios flashback feature.

Came across a "newish" GigaByte B450 Motherboard. The Gaming X ATX Mobo. Have not yet found remarkable reviews or even customer reviews.

 

Anything I should know about this board? VRM phases&VRM cooling efficiency, CPU&RAM OC-abilites? It's very cheap though, roughly at the same price as B450 Pro4 By Asrock.

B450M gaming plus has a better VRM around the same price, and budget msi boards are great with memory oc while cpu oc is probably about the same as most others in that price bracket.

I know. I always recommend Gaming Plus or Bazooka V2 for cheap gamer Mobo for Ryzen.

I was initially looking to buy a x570 to make my 3600 work at peak performance, but now with this tread I'm just confuse as of what to buy anymore. I just don't like the hassle of BIOS and I'm worried not choosing X570 will cause problems in the long run...

Tech Yes City tested a r5 3600 on a Gigabyte A320, and it works more than you'd expect. This gives me new hope that I can just update the mb and slap me sum 3600 and don't mind the x570 or b450s

Steel legend is on the edge of being able to handle a 3700x, mosfets on that are pretty bad.
