That’s what I mean - by looking at linustechtips list you’re right, but then there’s others out there saying different stories and I’m confused.

different stories of what board carries what or how well each mosfet performs? Because all of these mosfets do have public datasheets and you can estimate their performance based on those.

I wonder how they deal with Asrock B chipset Pro4 boards. They have 3 sets of possible mosfets you can get on those

No. Even less surface area on the heatsink on top of the same components, what the **** are they thinking of.

so what makes a board like Biostar B360GT3S a tier B (i5,i7OC) be placed above boards from z370,z390 series specially designed for OC. more than that the biostar board doesn't support OC,but it's place in a tier which is advertised as i5 i7 OC

Z370 and Z390 are specially designed for OC? Not sure about that. OCing is dependent on VRM quality, not the chipset.

@LukeSavenije

The two Biostar board dont look that good to me. They seem to be 3 phase design on both sides, with at best 6 cheap low side mosfet. Even if it supports overclocking I dont think it will do well with an i7 overclocked.

but Z370 and Z390 are not always specifically designed for OC. Many cheap boards with chipsets that support overclocking use the same components and based on the same PCB as some other chipset boards to save cost.

Hi guys! What is the clear difference and advantage between an ASRock Taichi and ASRock Phantom Gaming X, both x570? I am considering one of the two to be paired with a 3700x. Thanks

they are different in feature set (LAN I think, maybe more) only, which are things the official site shows.

Both overkill for 3700x as far as power delivery's concerned, only makes sense to consider these two boards for their features

B450M Mortar
3900X
3200 CL14-14-14 Crucial Ballistix ram 2x16GB

working flawlessly - i can recommend the Mortar 100%.... Got a M.2 970 1TB Evo Plus running along with a M.2 1TB 850, and it even has an USB-C port for my Pocophone F1

is this the best bang for buck board on the market considering the features? No WiFi/BT + bad audio, but I use a soundcard anyways... 100 dollar mobo with 580 USD CPU, lul!

i dont really understand the wording

for example tier c it says maxed out, does that mean the best cpu it can overclock? or is that just the best cpu it can 'max' overclock?

would tier c be ok for 3900x no overclock? what about with overclock?

specifically b450 carbon pro

it's in maxing out, so delivering enough current to fully overclock that chip, and keep it stable in the workload mentioned.

pro carbon can do a 3900x with a slight oc on good airflow
