Graphics Card (Cooling/VRM) Tier List (Navi Update)

Recommended Posts

Honestly, it all depends. I have a RX570 strix, and its really not that good. Its a bit worse than a 570 pulse. Also, the 500-series nitro+ is better than the pulse (has a couple more heatpipes, and bigger fans and heatsink).

also, I’m pretty sure most reference blowers use a vapour chamber.

does the amd stock do too?

and is the difference between the nitro and the pulse big enough for a whole tier?

Yeah, the pulse has a 4+2 vrm, and 4x 6mm heatpipes, while the nitro has a 6+2, and 2x8mm and 2x6mm, it also has a 8+6pin vs just a  8 pin.

They get the same temps, but the nitro is a good bit quieter.

there should be an intermediary tier, not quiet A, not quite b.

I'd get the nitro+ because of the better warranty support

What about EVGA XC Gaming? Is it the same cooler as the non-XC Gaming series?

E.g.: https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-2172-KR

EDIT: Nvm, I think that there is no non-XC Gaming series lol. Well, GPU is way cooler than my previous RX 580 so cannot complain.

Interesting, I didn't know they reused the name. The one that I was talking about was for the 2080Ti Matrix that has a built in AIO. Either way, that doesn't matter since:

Speaking of the 2080Ti Matrix, here is a review (TL;DR it cools really well):

well, do any blower models run "cool"? kek.\

Load GPU Temperature - Battlefield 1

the vega 56 is a good bit cooler than the GTX cards, and the 64 is tied with the 1080 ti.

actually the hybrid is only ~6.5c cooler than the Strix at a given noise level, but is 12-17 cooler than non-strix cards.

1080 ti.

The issue with majority of these charts is that the test bench was open, there's no extra air flow to aid what taints the results a little... my own 1080 Ti Founders Edition peaks at just 78Cº on full load (overclocked at 2000mhz mind you) but my case has impeccable airflow on a relatively cool room.

So don't blindly believe everything you see.

?? If there was no extra airflow to affect the 1080 ti, then there wasn't any for the vega 64?

I never said that the blower 1080 ti is shit, just that it is worse than most open air cards. Open air test benches should be cooler right?
